  1. With the Tablet and software can u control Faders similar to iOS app V-control? Idea being if you have to access fader 1 and 9 at the same time but don't have time to bank change fader config
  2. Motorized faders worked well on small post jobs I used to do because I didn't have to jump from inout 1 to 12 in real time. It looks cool and a great addition to some Nomad users. Give me a Fader controller with Gain Control, track Arm, slate/Talkback , Record/Stop and headphone volume control...
  3. Joaohpc, My thoughts on the 416/60/8060. When my original 8060 developed the ground issue. Sennheiser was kind enough to send me both the MKH 60 along with the "rev2" 8060 to choose. I already had the 416 in my kit along with the MKH50 and AKG CK69 which match pretty close in tone. Overall I liked the sound of the 8060 over the 60. When the high boost was off on the 60 it sounded bland when compared against the very bright 8060. when the 60's high boost was on it sounded brighter but also lifted the "hiss" up. Strangely also had an RF issue with the 60 next to an older TechnoCrane that the 416 didn't have. Also finding clips for the 60 to work in my Rycote was tough. If the 60 had a fixed frequency curve similar to the 416 I'd be happy because of the lower noise floor. Ultimately I've stayed with the 416 as its rock solid performance in Louisiana conditions helps the peace of mind. The bright top end of the 8060 makes it a Winter only exterior boom for me as it "pulls" in way to much "insect" noise during summer months. When the bugs are real bad I add the extra tube on the 69 and it's like magic but slightly unwieldy with the length. I'd be curious to try the DPA but current setup of MKH50/CK69/MKH 416 work well together. PS: Also tried the CMIT and passed.
  4. SFX going crazy with the fog.. At least it gave us a cool pic of my boom swinger Matt.
  5. I use a sustain pedal from a midi keyboard to trigger Slating function. Try someplace like Sweetwater sound for the pedal
  6. Would love to see a popup list of cast members ala Sound Devices 788t.. I like preloading cast names for an episode and quickly select
  7. If you watch on Youtube and let it go to the next file you will see the same boom up with black earbuds.. Just hard to see in the Wide Master of the previous clip.. My boom swinger uses over the ear buds and are hard pressed to see them..
  8. Timo I like the gender split it make changing track names a little faster. Instead of having to scroll 1 long list you can break it into groups. My cast, mic names, plan mic names list is very long and this would be a nice time saver! Appreciate the reply! 4. The gender thing was adopted from script and our LockitSCRIPT app. Do you need it at all or would it maybe even better to take it out of the Tonmeister app completely?Timo
  9. Few considerations here... -Most Cam depts I work with would not take kindly to a Sound Dept being able to mess with ANYTHING on the camera... Especially Naming a file...That would kill them. -In our side of the world we don't have a standard naming convention between machines.. SD, Zax,Aaton,Tascam.... All different naming -Distance, many times I'm far enough from set that any WiFi connection would not work and having to have some kind of bridge or booster is one more thing to deal with. -Who's responsible to troubleshoot when something goes wrong?? One more thing to fall on us??
  10. Timo, Started to Evaluate the app and have some questions and maybe feature requests. I have yet to test it with the software connected to my 788t so maybe some of this may be moot.. I mainly do Episodic Tv now and I am looking at it from that standpoint. 1. Is there a way to rearrange the icons at bottom of the App.. I will never use the Script or CallSheet functions and would like the Report function in the main grouping instead of under More.. My show does not release the script digitally and I write too much on the callsheet to make it useful in an app.. 2. Under Project Presets / Episodes - In addition to the Episode number and Episode Name, could you please add Director.. For example at present I'm working on 4 different shows till my own comes back. Trying to remember each director at the end of the day could be overlooked where if it were attached to the Episode, that could be setup during the Preset stage and not worry about it at the time you generate the report. It would also be great to have the Production Company / Network info set per episode.. 3. Again under Project Presets - Folders. Each day I set the Mid level folder to my Roll number on the 788t, does this information get transferred to the App or does the App over ride the machine and set the roll number? 4. Project Presets / Actors - Please add a Category called "Other" This would hold the non-gender names I use such as Plant Mic 1, Drv Side Plant or Stunt Mic.. 5. Under the Sound Report - General Info.. Allow the user to create their own Info in whatever order they want. For instance as it is now. I'd put Production Company, Director, Producer, Sound Recordist with Contact Info and remove Boom Op.. Post really doesn't need that info 6. Again in the Report. Option to Leave out "Sets" from the report if blank. Again, not really needed 7. Comment!!! - This is my favorite feature of the report! Many times I want to leave post an over Comment about the roll be it any special Mic we used or situation and how we dealt with it. This is the first App that address this!! Looking forward to trying it with the Beetle and again vote for Meters!! Thanks, ML
  11. Howdy all, Last video, spent all day cleaning my cart and getting the 788t connected back in. The video demonstrates how the Mod allows you options to use whatever mic you want as an input now. It shows the little External Mic from yesterday along with using a Tram TR50 wired for Senn G2 and my original AKG gooseneck mic that is connected to a Denecke Phantom power supply connected to the input again via an old G2 to XLR connector. It also shows what happens to Track 8's input when you use the Com/Slate toggle which basically Mutes the input to that ISO to route the output of the slate mic. A minor inconvenience for me as having access to all 8 ISO channels all the time far outweighs the routing limitation.. If it's an issue I just repatch to my old method... Please forgive me I meant to say Input 8, not input 6...
  12. As discussed on a similar thread on FB.. The 788t uses the output for Input 8 to digitally route the Com/Slate functions. What that means is, you get full use of all 8 inputs to record ISO tracks. When using the CL9 if during a take you toggle Com1 or Com2, input 8 will Mute and the ISO track goes silent as your signal from internal slate mic takes over. This happens even without the Mod but no one noticed because of how poorly the mic sounded, no one used it.. So, in my case I rarely talk to my guys during a take and the odds of me having to say something to them at the exact moment the person on input 8 speaks are low.. For CL8 users this is not an issue as you don't have Com function and you probably don't slate in the middle of a take...
  13. Douglas, Yes.. Please give them a call to schedule.. It doesn't take long but not something you would want to try at home.. I'm uploading a video to youtube showing it in use with the CL8.. When It stops raining I'll connect my CL9 up and post a demo of that too... ML
  14. Greetings All, A few months ago I put a bug in the ear of my friends Justin and Lukas at ProSound in New Orleans.. The idea was to repurpose one of the 2 headphone outputs on the 788t to be used as a Mic input that would replace the function of the onboard slate mic.. This addresses one of the long standing issues of having to give up input 8 to use an external slate mic... Today I'm am beyond happy to report "THEY HAVE DONE IT"!! The modified 788t the Mini headphone jack as an Input.. We first tested it with a Sennheiser G2/G3 style connector and it worked! Sounded Great. I then connected a Phantom Powered mic up thru a Denecke Phantom Power supply.. Again Success. Then "Coup De Grace", as shown below in the picture, we modified a Right Angle 1/8 inch connector to house a dynamic Microphone element and that worked to beyond expectations. On the cart or in the bag this little right angle Mic is PERFECT... I know they are working on a cable that will allow the Remote Audio Heaphones with attached mic to work with this.. They are working on a cable to adapt this funky old cool Shure gooseneck mic for me to use.. This mod allows you to use the 788t to its fullest abilities. In my case my current show I can have Channels 1 and 2 for booms and 6 wonderful Venue channels going with out a half baked workaround switch or just putting up with the bad internal sound of the slate mic.... This mod works with the CL8 and CL9. You set the internal Menu to "Internal Slate Mic" and return Input 8 to it's rightful place as a talent Input!! Again, I can't thank Justin and Lukas enough for taking my idea and running with it.. I am over the moon happy with it.. Please email or call them down in the NOLA office of ProSound for details and pricing. If you own the 788t, this mod is a must!! 15. Whitney, Had already scanned both of those sites.. Strange Filmtools doesn't sell it separate.
  16. Sound Devices has a loaner program whereby a small fee is charged and they ship you a loaner for the duration of the repair. Turnaround has been a week or so depending on how much work is backed up, but with the loaner you don't notice it..
  17. Need help trying to find a source for the wheel in the pic. Have seen it on many carts but places like filmtools does not have them as a separate item.. Thx
  18. I use a device called the iUsb. It creates an adhock wireless network, you connect usb devices to it. In my case I have a CF card reader. At the end of the night I create my report on my 788 or 664. Connect my iPhone to the iUsb device via wifi. Plug the cf card reader with cf card into device, use the app yiu download from the App Store. Mount the cf card download the CSV file and open in MovieSlate. Generate the report and send on down the line. Super quick and works great
  19. Greetings all, Modified the long html report that ships with Boom recorder. Changed it to more resemble something that say Wave Agent might produce.. The XML is tricky getting to the names for each track and haven't figured out a way to put them horizontal.. Anyway link directly below is an example of how it looks and included a link to the files needed to generate the report.. http://louisianafilmsound.com/boomrecorder/SoundReport.html Download the archive and put files into whatever folder you want, then point BR to this folder Archive that contains the modified .css and .xsl files http://louisianafilmsound.com/boomrecorder/ReportTemplate.zip Mark L
  20. There's the old standby of trashing App preferences.. nl.vosgames.BoomRecorder.plist file in your home Library/Preferences folder Then reset in Preferences which port your timecode is coming from
  21. What do sound mixers do.. http://digg.com/2015/what-is-sound-mixing
  22. On a budget, the Oktava is hard to beat. I have a Stock 012 and a pair of MKH 50's. If your recorder is a Zoom as indicated your profile area then get the Oktava from a trustworthy source along with the head swivel and you will be set. The 012 have a higher noise floor than the 50's but certainly don't sound bad..
  23. A 788t like recorder with more tracks (12 ISO Min) and corresponding control surface. Don't need Dante, bigger display would be nice, Bluetooth control/Meta data, separate Slate Mic Input. 2 bands parametric EQ. The Internal Drive / Int SD/CF card and External drive works for me, really don't see a need for more. A few more fields in the built in report function. On that note, the Cantar X3 feature set looks damm sexy. Zero interest in slogging around the swamps with a 970/Yamaha combo..
