  1. Glen, I have the original 4080, but the wire screen is munted. Is it possible to have it modified by you guys if I ship it to you? Cheers, Phil
  2. Kisaha, I have not tried BBG to compare, however I have Bubblebee spacer kits for both my CS3 and my CMIT5U and am extremely happy with them. I no longer bother with my rycote cages.
  3. I have had mine for a month or so. I have used it on my boom, with the Rycote Inv 7 suspension indoors using the XLR Barrel to lengthen it!, as well as plant mic in cars, and interior plant mic. I have yet to try it outdoors, as I am waiting on Bubblebee XS Spacer kit to arrive. I will then try different suspensions with it. So far I am loving it in every situation I have tried. Normally I use a CS3 or CMIT5U, but the CS M1 has easily as much reach, and rear rejection as both of these. It has a more self noise than CMIT5U, but that is to be expected I think given the price difference. Overall it looks, and sounds to be a great all rounder!
  4. Definitely the barrel adapter. Much more solid and less likely to break.
  5. Thanks Larry, that is the reassurance I was hoping for. All my batteries come from you guys. It is good to know that they have built in protection, as I had a horrible thought that I might be overcharging them. It is a few days since they had been charged on the Lectro supplied unit. The beauty of the new one I got is that it doesn't require an adapter for our power sockets, and also comes with a 12V car adapter. It is good to know that I should be safe to continue using it.
  6. I have picked up an extra charger off the net. On first use, I notice it topped up a battery that was indicating fully charged on your supplied charger. Do you think it is safe to use the unbranded charger, or is there a danger of damaging the Fuji batteries?
  7. Thanks for that. I have seen the various references on your website, but was hoping for some input from some Location Sound operators from Film and Television. They seem to have a good following in the Theatre, and Stage sectors, and I am sure there is a place for them in our field of work too. I will definitely be trying them out when I need to purchase some more Lavaliers, and will post my findings when I do.
  8. Maximum SPL 148dB and currently US$285 .Available with any connector imaginable. I still would dearly love to hear from someone who has used them to find out how they sound in the field.
  9. I found these mics when I was looking for options for waterproof Lavaliers. According to their website, they have a lot of use in theatres and handle moisture, makeup, and high SPL. They are also priced competitively, and the capsule is 4mm diameter, same as COS11, meaning that accessories could be shared. Has anyone had any hands on experience with these? On paper they look like a great option .http://www.point-sourceaudio.com/
  10. Fixed around 1 month ago. As long as your Windows 10 is up to date, you will have no issues.
  11. I have bought from Professional Sound, and also direct from Audioroot via email. Very easy to deal with directly.
  12. I have successfully run some transfers, and playback on both of my Windows 10 machines, which have automatically updated their software. However over on Sound Devices Facebook page, Paul Isaacs recommends waiting while they run further tests on various devices, before they give an all clear...
  13. https://github.com/Psychlist1972/Fix-SoundDevices-File-Corruption The patch for this problem has just been released...
  14. I have just received my 664C model. All fitted and operational in well under an hour...half of that cleaning up the 411's removing velcro, dots, and dust. Bag now looks really smart, but I have had to buy 1 more receiver to fill out all the spaces! (already have a spare transmitter). Very happy with a beautifully made product! Well done Simon!
  15. Yes, it does appear, from reports from others, that a clean install of Windows 10 alleviates the problem. However until this is confirmed to be the case, I have reverted my laptop to Windows 8, and will use that machine for transfers and backups. I have just sent all the relevant details of the hardware and upgrade path I used to microsoft to help confirm a solution. Refer to post that follows from Rick. the address to send info to is pete.brown@microsoft.com he would like to know computer model, type of upgrade done, card reader details, card details.
  16. I used the handle of a teaspoon, and lots and lots of patience...took a while!
  17. Warning....do not attempt to transfer or back up your .wav files using Windows 10. There is something in the OS that blocks access, and alters the files even on the source card. The original files become unplayable even in the machine it was recorded in. There is an active thread on the Freelance Sound facebook group page, and I will post a link to a thread on microsoft forum. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-files/transferring-wav-audio-files/50bbf42f-84a7-44b9-ab57-8784b5606d09
  18. I would be definitely keen on one if it were a bit cheaper. I will keep an eye on this thread, and see if it's possible to get the price down for a run of them!
  19. I picked up my adapter cables today, and within 10 minutes I had formatted a card and recorded my first track on the recorder. As the other guys indicated, operation is truly intuiative, and I am happy to confirm that the Sennheiser connector model works perfectly well in conjunction with COS11 and Lectro SM, by using simple TA5 to TRS adapter cables. In my opinion the Tascam DR10 is a really useful piece of kit. It is great value for money, and is just incredibly cute!
  20. Thanks Jon for your reassurance. Rodney has been really great to deal with, which is very helpful when located on the opposite side of the planet! My unit arrived yesterday, very quick delivery, and at a very reasonable freight cost. I won't have a chance to test it until early next week, when I pick up my adapter cables, but I am looking forward to posting my findings.
  21. I have purchased one which is still to arrive fron the UK from these guys. http://www.solidstatesound.co.uk/tascam_dr-10cs.htm The removeable top plates shown have me thinking about changing the connectors too, but I thought I would start out with adapter cables. I will consult with my engineer when it arrives, but for occassional use, I think adapters will work for me too. I spoke with the manager at some length by phone, and found him to be very approachable, and friendly.
  22. Check out the Tascam home page. The TA5 "L" model is no longer listed in the product range, anywhere. None of the models is available in the US. The remaining 3 x versions..Sennheiser, Ramsa / Sony, and Shure, are available in other territories. If you want one of these handy bits of kit, use google to find a reseller, and register your support via your wallet! A couple of adapter leads, and you will be in business. I will report my findings when mine arrives from the UK in a couple of weeks.
  23. There is a model designed to accommodate the lectro TA5 mics. Based on your post, I have just ordered one, so when I receive it, I will post my findings here. Apparently the TA5 version is on special order, so I hope it doesn't take too long! I see this as a potential life saver in a couple of situations I could find myself in.
  24. I am using several of these as IFB and camera hops. As IFB, my current director is also a soundy, and fan of comteks and he is loving the sonys for IFB. As hops, cameramen are loving the form factor on the camera. Adjustable antennae are great. Haven't tested them as radio mics yet, but have lectros for this.
