  1. I will try to upload image soon I am a bit of a Luddite when it comes to this sort of thing, bear with me tony
  2. Thanks John that was interesting. Firstly the offending unit did it on man and auto frame rate but is V-31. I tried another erx which is on V1-33 on auto frame rate and it's fine and wRning has gone. thanks for that I must upgrade all my units regards Tony
  3. Hi John I too have had the same warnings when cams off speed so I am familiar with the warning. I have tried two erx and two Amira same result all at 25fps. I have not had a note from post saying the code is different and I suspect it's fine but maybe it's the "type" of code from zax which I think is different from ambient. This is NOT with new erx firmware
  4. What happens is when I plug erx into TC in on Amira it picks up the code and that matches code on nomad, then it flashes the warning in photo and also alternates with another warning saying "no timecode source" . So it's like it sees the code and picks it up but then acts if there is no longer a TC source. I just unplug BNC and let the arri int code take over but would like to get to bottom of it. tony
  5. All above numbers are 25 in Amira and erx TC output is 1v
  6. Has anyone encountered this? When connecting an Erxtcd to arri Amira, 25fps from erx and 25p on arri I get this warning. It goes when I unplug TC source. Not sure why tony
  7. I recommend Lectro SNA 600 dipoles. They made a huge difference to my bag rig range and fit into the pouches in my Petrol bag. Tony
  8. My experience is based on the model shown in the photo above. Brian do you have a make and model of the silent ones?? Tony
  9. I can appreciate the methods used to make these quieter but I think the thrust needs to be for them to be redesigned especially as they become so prevalent. The scary thing for me is that after so many years of R&D went into making Dollies quiet and fully useable with sound these Sliders have just been made ignoring the needs of the Sound Dept. I also see them becoming more mainstream than Dollies as budgets and time are squeezed, also they seem to fit well with the small HD Cam world which are making inroads into Feature Film making. Tony
  10. Your right John it does. My problem is that they often use them with that in mind, meaning it's a very slow move but then things change and it becomes a fast track and it's too late to swap it out for a Dolly. They are not designed with sound in mind as a Dolly is. Tony
  11. I am not sure there are different types. All sliders I have used have the same steel bearing design and all make the same noise. They were designed to go on tripods so the operator could adjust the camera, especially for over shoulder shots, so they could compensate if an actor missed their mark so they were about 3foot long and used to adjust. Now there are much longer ones and are used to track the camera. Tony
  12. Are camera sliders the new dolly? A discussion point and what to do about it. For the last few years on both major movies and TV I have noticed the increased use of sliders for tracking shots. These are a menace to sound as they have steel bearings and are noisy. What often starts out as a camera correction or slow creep turns into a fast track in over dial rendering it ADR. Rather than try and stop their use, which I don't think is possible as they are a major time and money saver, would it be an idea ( with Jeffs say so and input) to approach the manufacturers as a JWSound collective rather than a lone voice from a Sound Mixer to build these to be quiet. One of the main makers is Ronford Baker who we all know as Tripod makers from way back. I doubt these guys know they are being used for a different purpose than intended but anyway maybe it's not such a major expense to have these built with a rubber wheel system or something to make them silent. There are now a few different manufacturers making these and they are all the same with steel bearings and they are making longer ones which gives even more scope as a tracking device. Anyway just an idea to see if we can collectively make a difference through a group sound forum. Tony
  13. I thought the 942 was compatible with the digital mics at least it has the provision in the extended menu. I have never tried it on mine but that's why I bought it for when I buy a super cmit. Tony
  14. that is a cinela mount and the mic was a schoeps CMC641 plus a DPA lav on the head mount arm on a Zax TRXLT. Tony
  15. We did not find the "Adaptive Preview Quiet Record" worked for us. We found the fan speed would creep up to 35% when it needed to even on cool sets. We went back to manual with a max run speed of 25% and an idle speed of 60%. Sure we have the noisy fans for rehearsal but the record speed is way better and often sits around 19% as the cams are cool to start with? The Reds maybe better than they were but still very un sound friendly. Two cams on a quiet set with low level dial is a challenge for them. Tony
  16. I have 2 TIGQ28 on Red Dragons at 23.98 and they work well, jammed easily. So thats good news. What a great device, good price, works well and tiny. Tony
  17. Yes Tig is fine with Dragon. Tony
  18. Jon I don't think this is the case. I have a TS3 and it sometimes jams the dragon and not others. To recap from a previous post of mine. Red have emailed me to say they have located the problem within the camera and are working on a fix and will have new firmware in 3-4 weeks. It is not the lemo as we have a rig with BNC as well and the same thing. We can get external timecode into the Dragon reliably with a Tig and Lockits but not Denecke or Zax. Tony
  19. Yes I have tested the ERX at 23.98 with a dragon without zaxnet on and it does not work. In fact Zaxcom have exhausted all possibilities on this matter and it's up to Red. I wrote to Red and here is their reply. Hi Tony, I spoke to our engineers, and they are working on the solution for this problem They have found the issue and are solving it, that is the good news They have to run a stability test on the firmware when its done. this means that before you have a build solving your sync problem it will take around 3 weeks In the meantime the best work around will be using the lock-it box or the Denecke TD5 until this is resolved Please call me if you have any questions! Thanks
  20. The Tig looks great jeff first time I have known about it. Has anyone had success with jamming the red Dragon at 23.98 with one of these? It may solve my problem until red fix the dragon. Tony
  21. I am not sure as Jeff has found a separate DC supply works for him. I just know for me that the AC power solved it. I hear you re Meon and being mobile I too have a Meon and wanted to be free of AC power but I think a small price to pay for having the most intelligent and technologically advanced Production Sound kit available. Even on the small productions these days, with everything being HD I am never on a set without AC power. Tony
  22. As I said I could not get rid of the 2.4ghz amp noise when powered off DC so a wall wort into the AC on my cart cured that and the IFB100 powered by a V Lock so now I am whine free apart from the fact that lunch is late so there is a faint whine there. Tony
  23. Yes it is a timecode device and is very accurate when used in a zax net system. I cannot understand why you would use one outside those parameters. It's a System not a stand alone timecode or audio product and is a fantastic piece of kit when in that environment. Tony
