  1. Curious to hear if the side-address makes these more susceptible to clothing rustle while hiding - an issue I've had with hidden Trams before
  2. Also somewhat related: recently did a film where the client said no scratch or mix to the camera & somehow the editors ended up using the sound from the on-board camera mics in the edit. When the sound designer (a friend of mine) got the film, he sent me a few angry texts before we realized that the editors forgot to give him my sound files. Once he got my files from the editors, I got plenty of happy texts
  3. I always try to get a clear answer as to whether they want a scratch track to be used simply for dailies/sync purposes or if they want a broadcast-ready mix to camera I'm a younger guy generally doing smaller jobs so I don't really encounter the latter too often but with the former, I usually send my mix a little hot via my G3s so that it doesn't end up in the final product. Haven't had any issues with clients or post being upset about this & haven't had the scratch track used in the final edit
  4. Worst part of biking to set in NYC (only when my equipment lives on set) is that I show up already sweating, before I even strap on the bag!
  5. I have 2 Mickey Mics and I couldn't be happier. Very small, easy to hide and for that price, they can't really beat. As a young guy with a more limited equipment budget than most of the more established guys, this mic has been a life saver. Got mine at Pro Sound, haven't heard of them anywhere else. Highly recommended !
  6. Fincher sounds like a smug asshole who would be utterly miserable to work with
  7. Looks great Matt! Thanks for sharing, gonna try something similar! Just curious - have you had to lug that thing up and down stairs? How tough was that?
  8. I know a lot of you guys are using the Fat Max as a follow cart, but have any of you ever modded yours to make it a little sturdier? Worked with a mixer whose handles finally got too bent to extend/close and don't want to go through that myself. Not sure if this is even possible without totally destroying it or whatever, but figured I'd ask!
  9. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed, drove me nuts. My dad even asked me about it after watching for a while so it seems we arent the only ones who weren't fooled
  10. Great music! The Residents were huge in developing my musical interests as well as a general interest in sound! Probably wouldn't be working as a mixer if it weren't for them, so thank you! Glad to hear you're in the same field! Also, are you familiar with Robert Turman? The toy piano (is that what it is?) and that analog sound paired with early electronics brings his recently rediscovered album Flux to mind! A personal favorite of mine!
  11. My first job out of college a few months ago was a doc in Finland - I was using G3s (Blocks A, B and G I believe) and never had any problems. People in Helsinki were incredibly friendly and generally spoke great English, making my life much easier when I needed to replace a couple XLRs! Good luck! Enjoy Helsinki, its a wonderful city!
