heavy? sound colouring?
looks like a mixture between Sennheiser, Rycote and a little Ktec.
I do prefer Sennheiser over Rycote - assembling/disassembling is quicker and to me they sound a little better. But blimp is not that rugged. This full set is cheaper than an MZW 60-1 alone.
BTW: I haven't noticed a big difference between black Lyre and standard rubbers with an Neuman kmr81 and CCM 8 MS Rig. Who did get better results with them on an MS Rig?
I am on the way to build one with MKH 30 and CMIT / 416...

Our new RF Multi SMA has been in production for approximately three months. We are saddened to report that there have been several malfunctions of this product in the field. After an extensive investigation of these problems, we have determined that the RF amplifier chip can be damaged under certain connection and use circumstances. We have now developed an update to the circuitry which will prevent this unfortunate problem. Although most users may never have a problem, we would like to update all units as soon as possible free of charge. If you have one of these units, please send it in for updating at your earliest convenience. Will will try and turn these updates around as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. You can send your unit to:

In very good condition the collette cable is used for insertion between any capsule and any amplifier of the Colette Modular System. Active Colette Cables may be inserted between any capsule of the Colette modular system and the microphone amplifiers CMC 6, CMD 2 and M 222. The cable itself is highly resistant to stretching, bending and abrasion. Moreover it does not tend to twist after being suspended, even with temperature changes. This is of importance, e.g. when the microphone is hung from the ceiling. $360.00 plus shipping

Video transmitters??

I hate being tethered to the ever-moving DIT or video village. The show I'm on graciously rents down-converters and Canatrans transmitters for me (with some convincing and a good deal from the camera house). Some day I'll not get so lucky, but still won't want to run cable.

I was wondering if there's a lower cost transmitter (ATV or DTV) that people have had success with. It needs to be self-contained, like Modulus/Canatrans. The 2.4/5.8 stuff is pretty useless getting through sets and stages.

Or are Modulus and Canatrans on the way out and cheaply available?

Best Lectro block to use in Las Vegas?

So my wife has wrangled me into helping out her boss by going to Las Vegas next month to shoot some short video clips of product manufactures at the InfoComm show the second week of June. Basically 3 to 5 minute shots of them talking to camera about one or two of the latest bits of cool tech. I want to just use one of my Lectro 411 systems and a SD MixPre to feed the camera. A one man band set up basically. I'll bring a RE-50B and plug on Tx just in case a lav is just washed away on the event floor mayhem. These are no huge video productions, just a favor for my wife's really great boss. He's paying me a small fee to do this even though I told him he didn't have to.

For you guys that work out there all the time, what frequency block is the best to use? Or what block to not use might be better. I'm not sure what hotel or event center this show will be held at, but a recomendation for one good clean block would be really great.

Thanks so much!

Loon Boom - Togloc coming loose

Hello all,

I've been using a Loon boom pole for the last few years and recently I noticed that the Togloc is ever so slightly loose. It's not a problem when using, say, a Schoeps in a Cinela mount but when I've got the full 416 on the end there's a noticeable rattle.

So, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and, if so, what you did about it. I'm considering gluing it on at the moment...

I'd really like to not have to replace the pole just because of this as in all other respects it's great.

(I've contacted Loon but haven't heard anything back yet.)

best

Storing the Nomad, with or without batts?

Normally during a show I leave the internal batteries in the Nomad each night and over the weekend, and just unplug my NP-1.

I just started a 5 week show this week, and I am not providing equipment, so my gear is going to have some shelf time. I was thinking it would be prudent for me to take the battery sled out of my Nomad for storage, but I didn't have a good reason to/not to do this, so I thought I'd ask for some opinions here.

I am asking about my Nomad because that's what spawned my question, but the same question applies to all gear, like transmitters and receivers, which I usually leave un batted unless I'm using them the next day.

Thoughts?
Thanks

I've been working in film and tv production for the past 6 years and I've realized that sound is what I am the most interested in. I'm looking for any advice on how to get into the business and break into the union. Over the years I have met some great sound people and they have referred me here to search for advice. Not looking for a free ride and that's why I didn't ask them for a handout, I want to earn this and work hard for it to prove I am dedicated. Any advice is appreciated and I'm willing to work for anyone who needs help.

Thank you for your time

Hey, got some extra gear that is just sitting around at the moment.

PM for more info or making offers, I'm willing to consider any offers:

Rode blimp kit with windjammer. $200 + shipping
The blimp and mount are in great shape, and I replaced the short cable into the blimp. The windjammer probably could use a good brushing, but is clean and soft.

K-Tek Avalon KE79CC aluminum pole with an internal cable and bottom exit. $175 + shipping
Fantastic condition, the locks are all smooth and the pole looks and works great.

Rode NTG-1 short shotgun. $200 + shipping
Clean and quiet, looks like it just came from the factory.

Audio-Technica Pro 88W VHF wireless system. $100 + shipping
Works great... But yea, it is an old war horse. Looks good for the age, not ever used much.

Audio-Technica AT8415 shockmount. $40 + shipping
I bought this, and then shortly after came upon a Rycote setup, so this has been used exactly two days.

Hi,

Strangely, 4 of my COS11s (not the D) all 5 years old have lost crispiness and sound "dumb"...

All have been taken care of very well, and were last used on a gig about 8 months ago when they sounded fine.

I have a brand new pair of COS11s which are also about 4 years old, but never used, stayed in the plastic cover and carton. Checking the older used ones against these clearly showed a pronounced loss of HF and definition.

Has anyone else experienced this - maybe age-related deterioration? All four of them! :~(

(I am quite sure there is no physical debris on the wire mesh cap.)

I'm finally getting a chance to update my cart which will involve getting some aluminum drawers. Since I'm going to change up the size etc. the existing rack mount holes won't work. Wondering if anyone has gone through the process of mounting these rivets in aluminum themselves, or is it best to take to a machine shop.

Hi,

what speakers are you using on your carts?

I sure like the Remote Audio R1 http://www.remoteaudio.com/speakeasy_r1/ but I was hoping for something smaller but still decent sounding and with reasonable connectivity.

Thank you very much!
