  1. Hi All, I've been following the J.W. discussions regarding the changing legal wireless frequencies in the US. Prior to acquiring new gear, I thought it would be prudent to see what the latest and projected frequency situation is in Canada (Ontario). Is Canada tending to follow the US with respect to the reassignment of frequencies? What frequencies are "safest" at this time? I've Googled but have come up with little info. Thanks kindly for any knowledge you care to share. Have a great evening. Cheers, Dave
  2. Hi there, I am doing a job in Canada (specifically Montreal, Quebec) and I am wondering what tax information I need to put on the invoice. I am Australian and my business is registered in Australia but I have a Work Permit (Case type: 20) for Canada. I saw that invoices in Canada are meant to include GST number and in some cases HST and PST; In Quebec I believe it is GST and PST. Does anyone know what I should put on the invoice in my case. Much appreciated in advance, Ed
  3. Dear friends, How do Lectro block 21 and 24 work in Toronto? What blocks work best? Anticipated thanks Libero
  4. Hi to all fellow Canadians, Just wondering if anyone is based out of Windsor, Ontario and if there is much of a film, video, television production scene and work there? Any spill over from Detroit? Thanks kindly for sharing your experience. Keep well! Cheers, Dave
  5. There's a chance I might be moving to Vancouver, B.C. this year. I'm looking to get an apprenticeship in location audio. I've worked on a number of small indie shorts on this side of the pond where I was basically a one man sound department, so I'm quite the newbie. Any advice from folks working in the industry in Vancouver? I'd like to get some experience in a larger production to get an idea how everything works. Does the sound department take on people to help out during the shoot?
  6. Hello everyone, I had originally posted this on the RAMPS google group, and was advised that I might get more feedback if I posted here. This is my first post at jwsound. I'm a former AV tech looking to transition into the world of location recording. I'm looking to volunteer, or job shadow, a location recordist to gain a bit of practical experience. I'm based in Toronto, Canada. I always show up on time, work hard, stay out of the way, and don't whine about assigned tasks. If anyone knows of opportunities for me, or if anyone has any advice for me, please reply. I will appreciate any information, and don't be afraid to be frank. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Sincerely, Marc-André Paquin
