  1. Car Interior Solutions

Hello! So I have a project starting up that is around 70% car interiors. My standard setup for car interiors has been planting cardioids on consoles using some FlexiMounts, wires on talent, and some safeties up in the sun visors. I was wondering if anyone has tried any other techniques for car interiors with any success? It would be nice to audition some new setups on the project and see how they work!

  3. Hey Guys, I'm new here and I've done a few searches looking for the info I need but haven't quite found an answer to my specific question. I'm shooting for 3 weeks in the Philippines on a doco - I'm setting up an audio rig with 2 radio mics (along with a boom). Nothing too strenuous, no water action, just interviews etc We'll be in Manilla but also Davao City. Only thing is I can't find any info on the restricted frequencies inside the Philippines. So I'm a bit confused as to which of the below options would work best for in country shooting.... So my three options for radio mics are: - Sennheiser EW 100 ENG G3-B - Sennheiser EW112-p G3 - Sennheiser EW122-p G3 Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Hey everyone, I have a commercial spot coming up where their is a possibility that I have to capture audio in a car that is traveling thru an obstacle course. The windows will be open. 2 cameras. don't know the frames yet. I suspect they may do a closeup on the driver and a two shot. I will wire the talent for sure but you know how it goes with seat belts and wind. I would like to put mics in the visors if I can. Might be a cub. Trying to stay away with lavs in the visors because they usually don't sound very good. Easier to hide for sure and I have adequate wind protection. The Cub-01 I can get wind protection for also but I may have to wire 3 cars so that would be 6 in total if I wire both passenger and driver side, and that's if the shot allows it. other useful suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you B
  5. Opinions on these mics

Hey guys, I'm recording a short this weekend and I can not rent the shotgun I normally use these days (good ole 416) as they don't have any available. They have either the NTG-3, the CS2, or the KMR-81i. Pretty straight forward shoot (single camera, two wires). I'll be recording indoors (typical office with drop ceilings, desks, carpet, etc), as well as outdoors (rural farm, and it's a bit colder. I'm up in Ontario). This is about all the info I have on my locations as i was not on the tech scout. Was wondering what you guys thought about the above mics as i have never used any of them. I will definitely do a shoot out of all three before I rent today, but I thought I would see what you guys had to say before I head in. Thanks you in advance for your thoughts/advice. I'm early in my career recording for film and TV, and I love it. I know a lot of you are further down the road, so I really appreciate your time. Cheers!

  7. Does anyone use digital mics?

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anyone out there uses, or have tried out, any digital microphones for field use? I'm talking about mics such as for instance the Neumann KM D-series. The thinking behind a digital mic seems good, but since they are not widely used, maybe they aren't up to the quality of the analogue ones yet? Or are there some other issue, like reliability or the dynamic performance of the AD section? Thank you for the vast amount of knowledge you all provide here!
  8. short microphones

Hey, Just a nice picture of a collection of short microphones. Been doing some comparison's lately on cardioids. The DPA is really nice IMO. It competes with the Schoeps. Sennheiser you need the pad/filter in there but also very nice. Thoughts on short mics? mounting options? windscreen protections? I'm not asking for anything specific - just your experiences.
