Wow, 5VDC and costs under $100! That could be pretty good.

Note that 1 frame = 33ms, so it'd take a little math to work out how many frames of delay are needed for video village. I would hope this is not a stepped control, but it looks to me like it is. I wish they could have had a digital readout and thumbwheels, and still kept it under (say) $150. The Behringer Shark would be perfect if it was DC-powered.

I'd say for the price and convenience, and considering most shows I have done watch HD or prefer to live with the delay and have the live actors in sync with the Comteks, the 50ms steps will get you close enough.

I own a Shark, and have done a LOT of HD shoots over the last 6 or 7 years, and it's never come out of the box.

I am trying to find an inexpensive solution to lip sync matching an analog signal. I wish to use the aux analog output from the back of my Samsung plasma television which the manufacturer neglected to delay to match the video.

The AP-411 at first seemed an excellent choice, but on further investigation it turns out that it does only provide 50ms increments. That is not sufficient for my needs.

The best option would be the following..

but relatively expensive at 200 USD. In a choice between this and the AP-411 however, at not much more than twice the cost, it would be a faaaar superior option. Of course, for even less than 200 USD I could just as well purchase a NOS (new old-stock) fully fledged Yamaha AV receiver.....

This 170 USD amplifier has remote controllable 0-250ms lip sync delay using a GUI fader in 1ms increments!

If you look on the front of the unit, there's a knob marked "mix balance" "dry/wet" ...turn this knob in full so the box's output signal is 100% wet (no original...just processed - in this case delayed). In this scenario, all you are going to get is the *delayed* audio signal (no original)....the manual sucks, but all effects boxes have this option! So it will work (& probably give you a whole lot more delay capability than even the likes of the Felston).

Can anyone confirm what that quote is suggesting?

And if "all effects boxes have this option" is indeed true then would it be possible to simply use the 40 USD Behringer DD400 Delay pedal...

For 40 dollars this would be a very nice solution for me.

Or would impedance/level issues be a hurdle for matching up with the audio coming from the aux jack on the back of a television set?

Obviously, the Yamaha amp is the way 99 percent of folks would address this issue, and is in fact what I'm sure Samsung had in mind for the typical consumer. But I am simply using the analog aux outputs on the television to power a tiny external amplifier with headphones for a hearing impaired member of the family, not for surround home theater. The rest of the family is perfectly satisfied with the television's internal speakers. A fully fledged HT amplifier is enormous overkill simply to attain the single feature of audio lip syncing.

Thanks for any input on this. I really would like to find a simple and low cost solution to this problem.
