Renaming files on a Fusion mirror card

Hi, I'm doing one of those shows that has a free-style clapper loader that changes slates at the speed of light.

I find that I change the slate number on the primary card and it doesn't change on the mirror card.

I guess that if I change the mirror mode to normal in stead of continuous (which I prefer) it would write the file after the renaming, therefore with the corrected slate number.

Is there another way to rename the files in the mirror card other than that?

Why does not mirror the changes made on the primary card as is a "continuous".

The assistant editor is calling me too many times and is not good!

Thanks, Manel

Unfortunately, this is the way the Deva/Fusion works. If you're in continuous mirror mode, the file on the mirror card will have the same name, metadata, etc. as is on the primary card when you made the recording. If you change the metadata on the primary card (file) you would have to re-mirror that to have the change be on the mirror copy. In normal mirror mode (also sometimes referred to as "idle copy") you could change the metadata while you are recording to the Primary and then when mirrored you would have the correct metadata. It would be nicer if it didn't work this way, and I know that there are other recorders that handle these changes differently, but this is the way the Deva has always worked as far as I know. As a side note, I never use continuous mirror mode (though I know others do all the time) with my Deva and the problem that you bring up here is one of the factors in my decision to always use Normal mirror mode.

Manel, you could doing a number or Mirrors during the day. Instead of doing continuous, switch it to Mirror Normal when you are done a scene or a set up. That way hopefully for that section of files they are done changing the slate, and you don't have a huge amount of mirroring to do at the end of the day. Kind of a compromise between Mirror Normal and Continuous.
