Brian Maier
Does anyone have any working experience with this product that they would care to share? Looks very flexible, but a bit on the bulky side. http://www.higheroctave.tv/
gpiegari
I bought one enticed by the apparent flexibility of mounting options. It IS quite bulky but does protect your receiver and antennas fairly well. I couldn't imagine two Lectros sandwiched in there and sticking off the side of the camera. I use a Zaxcom for hops and still prefer a BEC bracket/box for those situations because of the lower profile. I really wanted it for the toy cameras. The under-mount mode works well, but then if you attach a camera shoe on the bottom, there is a little too much play and some DPs have complained. Again, this would be even worse with two receivers stacked. The little bracket that allows you to mount to the camera handle has been the solution a few times but most operators don't like it. I've found the best bet is the JimmyBox under the toy cameras. Many DPs really like the bonus handle but you don't have to use it. I love being wireless to camera and I feel like I continue to try every product available hoping to find one that will work every time but it's just not the reality. So many different cameras, operator preferences, plus they still want flexible mounting and operating options. Nothing is perfect all the time. Glen P. curleysound
With all the miniaturization going on, I imagine it's only a matter of time until there is a plug on reciever, not much bigger than a XLR to BNC adapter. Slap an antenna on the bnc, turn on phantom power, and go... Glenn?
Philip Perkins
In their promo pix the camera operator looks like he is about to poke his eyes out on the RX antennae, with the RX mounted on the handle. The problem w/ this rig is that normal Lectro RX are too big for the toycams. Most guys I work with prefer to have a fanny pack than more stuff on their camera. ProSound
I use the saddle bags or BEC box as well. Thanks
Brian Maier
Kinda what I expected, just looks too cumbersome. The fact that the owner is trying sell the company isn't a vote of confidence either.
