ShubiSnax
I bought a Sennheiser DC2 on Ebay, wired everything up and it wouldn't power any of my G3's from my Remote Audio BDS. (+ to tip, - to sleeve) I even wired it up the other way to make sure I wasn't being an idiot. Still nothing when I press the power button. I got my money refunded, so no worries there. But I still have the unit and it was brand new when I opened it. Anyone else ever have an issue with these? Is there any way to test or fix these things? A quick Google search didn't bring up any results.
Chase Yeremian
Is it possible it is a counterfeit from Ebay? I have seen some crazy counterfeits of pretty niche industry products, but glad you got your money back.
ShubiSnax
I guess that's always a possibility. I talked to the guy who sold it to me and he was very surprised the unit was not working. He sells AV equipment from liquidating companies, has a perfect feedback score. He says it's his first refund in 6 years. It came in Sennheiser packaging and everything looks legit. The wire leads were tinned like it was never used. I guess stuff happens. But I might try to take it apart because I demand an explanation!
ben lowry
Make sure you're using the right coax plug: Swithcraft 761K, I believe. The shorter-shaft ones (760K) with same inner & outer diameter can seem to fit, but won't get juice from the BDS. Ben Lowry
RadoStefanov
No problem with dc2 here. Btw I have a brand new never opened for sale. Came from sennheiser. Sent from my HD7 using Board Express
Spencer Moore
My DC2 always causes noise on the receiver side. Like a little electronic clicking sound. Normally though I use my g3 as a reference hop, and it behaves on the transmitter side.
ShubiSnax
Indeed, I am using a Switchcraft 761K connector. Noise on the receiver side? That doesn't sound good. Maybe something is wrong with your DC2? I'm always looking to cut the cost of my work(batteries being a substantial cost) but not at the expense of a clicking noise.. Rado, PM sent. studiomprd
" But I might try to take it apart because I demand an explanation! " probably nothing to see... you could send it to Sennheiser...
ShubiSnax
you could send it to Sennheiser... I'll probably end up doing that. I might get it back in year or so..
Dominik
I was wondering if anyone's got any ideas. I have the same problem with noise on receiver side. I use Switchcraft connectors for thees DC2 adapters and Ramote Audio BDS. The nose becomes more noticeable when I start recording with my 744T. Is it possible that it somehow interferes? RScottATL
Could be interference. RX output is unbalanced and non-isolated power (eg: BDS) has certainly given problems with grounding issues before. I wouldn't rule out bad shielding on the audio cables either when dealing with digital recorders. Time for some ol troubleshooting.
John Blankenship
Set your Sennheiser receivers to maximum output and use line level into the mixer or recorder.
TomBoisseau
I must say, I've had some issues with the DC2's when trying to use them off of a common 12 volt DC power supply on my cart. I have actually had 2 of them somehow damage a G3 transmitter and a G3 receiver, and in fact causing the "smoke" to be released and necessitating a service trip back to Sennheiser. Additionally the DC2's also burned out. I assume it is likely a grounding issue. When this happened I was clipping the G3's to the metal of my cart. I don't dare experiment any longer however. It's too costly to do so. Now, if I need to use a G3 on my cart, I use batteries in it and Velcro it to the cart. I'd sure like to solve this issue however. Nowadays, I only use the DC2's in my bag powered by an NP1. Tom
