Arnold F.
I'd love to find a resource that discusses timecode in depth so that I can get a thorough understanding of the subject and not have to rely on someone else to tell me why a certain framerate is used when. Does such a thing exist? Timecode for Idiots? A.
Guest klingklang
http://wolfvid.com/html/lit.html everything under "books".
tourtelot
Gotta agree. Wolf is "the Man" for TC as well as for a lot of other technical stuff we all need to know and don't have room in our brains to memorize. All his books are "worth their weight. . . ." D. Arnold F.
Many thanks. I have one of his lovely books but, as I recall (can't find it on the shelf at this moment), the information contained therein, handy as it may be, is more of the nature of a crib note about some common situations and not the kind of comprehensive discussion I think I need. Heck, if someone here who knows a lot about wants to write one it I'll pay for it. A.
Sergio Sanmiguel
Maybe this can help: Time and Control Codes for 24, 25 or 30 Frame-Per-Second Motion-Picture Systems Or you can browse the whole SMPTE store
Matt Mayer
Arnold, For printed matter, try: Timecode, A User's Guide - John Ratcliffe SPARS Timecode Primer - (Available on the Trew Audio website, I believe..) For online: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMPTE_time_code http://www.philrees.co.uk/articles/timecode.htm Have fun! ---Matt

Charlie Parra
Hi Arnold, Wolf's books are a must read. I also like "Using Time Code In The Reel World III" by Jim Tanenbaum. I'm not sure if it is still available. It is a bit tedious to read, but it has a wealth of information. If all else fails, give me a call! Best Regards, Charlie
