Mick
We're shooting an episode next week that involves the shooting of a slasher movie where the movie slashee becomes a real-life slashee. Props came to me and said "Do you have a Nagra?" Oh boy, do I!! At a daily rate that's better than when it was used for what it was designed!! Like I said, life in the old analog dog yet! Bob Marts
I was happy to rent my mono Nagra a few times last year to the Microsoft XBox people. They had a big pyro sound effects session to record explosions for various games. They recorded to a lot of different digital recorders and programs but they really liked using the full 1/4" Nagra at 15 ips with an EV RE15 or RE20 straight into it. I got a good rental fee and I was able to unload a lot of tape, too.
FSBELLA
hey guys, its funny here at the rental house, when the prop dept calls in for a "reel to reel" recorder. (they want a nagra of course) and a "cart setup" I absolutely love it. getting that old dusty nagra off the shelf and turning the knobs and putting on the reels. its a great rental on a dying breed of recorders that the movie industry still loves to see on camera. Entourage rented the "reel to reel" set up from me several times last year. only if they new. later,
studiomprd
reminds me that the original Mission Impossible TV series always had a little reel-to-reel in the opening segment in which the assignment was delivered on the tape, which self destructed at the EOM. They never used available cassette recorders, as they did not have the right "look"!
