Eric Burge
Too late... Got sucked into yet another ebay vortex and when spat out the backside found I owned a pair of CMC6 XTs. After the fact I did some more serious research, but most everything I found was really dated...back to '03-'04 when they first came out and were new and novel. Anyone have real working production data to offer? From all I can tell they aren't quite as flat as other CMC curves, but have a slight high end boost of 2-3 dB beginning at about 8 or 9 kHz up to 20kHz and then do a weird dip/bump above that to acheive the slated 40kHz target. I know we humans can't "hear" any of that high-end stuff, but maybe there is some ultrasonic vibe to consider...? Some of the comments I tracked down, though dated, were less than enthusiastic. I'm planning to use them mostly for FOB recordings at live outdoor venues (i.e. bluegrass/folk festivals) so maybe the extra bit of high end emphasis would be a good thing when parked out in the diffuse field...but...I will no doubt also be using them for production purposes (gotta justify the outlay <g>). Am I missing something? Thanks, EB
