Winter
Has anybody used Shure UR5 wireless mikes? What is your opinion as compared to Sennheisers or Lectros? Interested too, seems to be a nice mid-priced choice. What about the cheapest transmitter offered, the UR1? Any comment?
studiomprd
The UR5 is a portable RX in the ULX-R professional line, which is extremely popular in many other areas of sound than the typical jwsoundgroup.net participant is involved in. Shure had left the ENG wireless market sector, and recently has returned with new products in their popular ULX-R series that are of interest to ENG/EJ, and even EFP folks. They have also reentered the shotgun microphone for ENG/EJ and other customers. " What about the cheapest transmitter offered, the UR1? " it is the low end of this high end (though not highest end) range of Shure wireless. Edited December 10, 2012 by studiomprd

" It is a step up, but that will be your own subjective choice, Shure products are considered fine value for the $$
Winter
Thanks Senator, I'm going to ask for a demo, I'm intrigued... Shure is one of the few brands with nice support in my country, something really important to know before buying...
bcopenhagen
The portable receivers have the same excellent audio quality as the rack receivers, with obviously more flexibility for doing portable work. They have a wide range of gain control and a nice low noise floor (dependent also on your mic). It's been rumored that Shure may respond to the resounding desire for top-display portable receivers. Yes, they are many steps up from a Sennheiser G2/G3 system (assume you mean ew100 series). -Brian
