If you have an audio input adapter for the Hero 4 you can try recording LTC straight out of your timecode box. This works great on my Hero 3 Black, and not at all on my Hero 7 so you definitely need to test.

 

I love the idea of the SyncBac but don't need it enough to justify the expense.
