Eric Leonard
Hi folks. Is there a video A to D vs. audio A to D delay mis-match when feeding AES to an XDcam (or any other camera with AES ins)? I haven't measured my A to D delay (out of a 702T) - I suppose I should, but in general - has anyone had any problems doing this? Thanks in advance -- Eric. Matt Mayer
Eric, I can't remember the exact number, but the A/D-D/A delay on the 7 Series is in the neighborhood of 3ms. I think the video processing delay would be more of a problem than the audio delay. Some of the little cameras have a delay around 4 frames or so (JVC if I recall correctly...) ---Matt
Eric Leonard
Right - so how do I insure (nearly) perfect sync between me and the video? I suppose I could tinker with the input delays on the 702T - but only if I knew what the live-to-XD-write video processing delay was. Maybe it's a non-issue? Hopefully? Thanks Matt. Matt Mayer
Eric, Sorry, missed the fact that it's only A-D. The would be half of the A-D/D-A number. We're talking fractions of a frame here. In the grand scheme of things I think the audio A-D delay is a drop in the bucket compared to the video processing delays. I wouldn't worry about it. ---Matt
