Glen Deakin
Has anyone had a chance to work with the remote audio low profile connectors? How are they for assembly strain relief and positions of the cable. Thanks.
Jack Norflus
Sound Guy solutions also makes a low profile XLR and TA5. I just got some of the TA5 connectors but havent had a chance to solder then yet. They are serviceable and pretty low profile (will post photos when I get a moment). I plan on picking up some of the XLRs as well.

I got a reply from Neutrik basically saying 'not a chance' ! Not very helpful. Those Remote Audio ones look good though Ha! Actually I find that pretty helpful. It's good to know that you definitely should look elsewhere.
efksound
Not as nice and pro looking as the connectors from OPS but here is my version, screwable & serviceable as well :-)

Shastapete
Gotham sound makes a 3D printed version too
Jack Norflus
Here is the sound guy solution TA5. The cap is beautifully machined and the connector is servicable. I don't have any of their XLR connectors but they are very similar.
Eric Toline
Can't find the caps on their website. Can you post a link?
Gene Martin
We currently don't have them up on the Sound Guys Solutions website, but here are a few pics that I have on me at the moment. Still working on getting colored inserts manufactured, but we've done some custom laser engraved options as well.

berniebeaudry
How do you order them and is there a TA3 available. Thinking for my Lectro LR receivers. They look great!

They look great! I got my TA5 connectors from the Audio Department directly. The Sound Guy Solution connectors use the standard switchcraft pin base (not sure if that is the offical name). So if you bought the connector and just used the metal shell and and end cap without the 5 pin base - depending on the cable used - you can get away without even re-soldering the cable. All you would need to do is just open your current TA3, remove the metal strain relief and discard it. Then physical cut off the switchcraft plastic boot - you can probably just squeeze the boot with a plier and it would just crack off. Then the TA3 pin base and little plastic ring that is already soldered would just slide into the SGS metal shell and put on end cap and you are done. I'll need to convert to a smaller cable anyway. The Lectro LRs came with cables but they're made of the larger diameter cable.

Good to know. I just looked at the cables I have and they're not as heavy as I was thinking. They're Belden 9397 miniature flexible mic cable. The existing connector is Switchcraft so that's a plus too. I just looked at the diameters and the 2967 is 2.5mm in diameter and the 9397 is 4.47mm. Do you still think the right angle cap will work with my existing cable?
Jack Norflus
I think it should. You can always file a bit of the metal shell if it's too tight.

Governor
Apologies for my ignorance - but when making multiple of these and combining them in a bag how are you binding all the cables together? I'm new making cables other than a simple XLR or BNC and wonder what people are using to tie 6 cables together?
Jeremiah Sheets
Maybe the Senator can delegate with you on this one. (Bad joke, don't care.) I use small velcro strips to attach them to the inside of the bag together. Easy to separate when needed. I know I have a dedicated post, but it doesn't hurt to add here: These were made for me by Audio Department:
soundslikejustin
And now for something a little bit different: Not XLRs, but custom low profile RA USB for Zaxnet serial connection. Normal USB connectors end up with bent cable exits from hitting the bottom of the bag.
