Rick Albright
I used a similar rig working on a show about climbers around 20 years ago. They had to wear climbing helmets ( basically a hard hat ) due to rockfall on the route. I mounted the mics just inside the bill and covered them in homemade overcovers. Placement was great as whether they looked up or down, always on mic. I was very worried about mounting the transmitters inside the helmets for safety reasons, as others have echoed here. I wound up mounting them in the battery compartments for the headlamps they wore on the outside of the helmets. They fit perfectly and were easily accessible for battery changes. +1 on the kayaker helmet ! Nothing like seeing someone eskimo roll and come up talking ! Whether any participants in the show have signed a waiver or not, I wouldn't feel good about my transmitter being a cause of injury. Very nice illustration Alex.
