johnpaul215
I know the Rebel added video, but I never worked with one. Has anyone? Anything different I should know? They are specifically asking for a mix feed to the camera, and I'll have my recorder rolling as well. I'll probably use my ERX1TCD, unless there is some reason not to. thanks! afewmoreyears
Read the manual.... it's most likely online.... I would think it is similar to the T3i..... mic level input.... possibly an adjustable gain input in the menu functions... 1/8 mini input.. Pretty straightforward... Jesse Flaitz
I know the T2i and I believe the T3i have audio metering with (wait for it) the ability to set audio at -20. I'm not sure if that has continued with subsequent models however.
afewmoreyears
Well, I would hate to see them go backwards on such a function... but it would not be the first time... There is always Magic lantern...

johnpaul215
Meaning..... Lately a lot of 5D shoots i have done were lock off interviews and they just used camera mic. I don't think I've send a mix to a 5D in a year or more.
afewmoreyears
I don't think I've been on a shoot with a 5D in at least 2 years.... before that, always the camera mic and double system...

johnpaul215
So this was for something quick, and to make things easier I just ran a 25 foot mini cable from the Nomad's headphone2 into the camera (yeah, I know). They were using a glidecam rig, so my breakout cable with mini adapters would have been kind of heavy and thrown off the camera. That way they got 2 tracks of audio, and have the WAVs from my Nomad too. Which audio will they end up using? Who knows. They have PluralEyes, and a full post department. I know they can do very high quality work, but I'm not sure this specific project is going to get that treatment. Camera op was happy. Client was happy. That's what counts. As always, thanks for the input.
