Earmuffs
I have an opportunity for a broadcast gig that uses the Calrec Artemis and I'd like to see if anyone in New York has knowledge and access to one to give me a short run down. Ill buy lunch or dinner or both. I'm familiar with smaller format matrix boards but would like to check one out in person prior to my meeting this weekend. Thanks. This is intended for those who are involved in broadcast studios btw.
studiomprd
These are pretty major modern boards, and you may be going in over your head... typically, more than a briefing is required before flying solo
ccsnd
Is this a sports gig? Most sports trucks use Calrec. (ESPN pretty much mandates that) Learning to use it could easily turn into more work. I don't have a lot of experience on it myself, but I have used it and it is fairly straight forward once you get past set up. read the manual, look at videos online, show up early. Earmuffs
Sorry, I haven't been getting my updates. I was primarily interested in just getting some exposure to the board. Senator, yes is it a very high tech board but for someone who can wrap their head around it it's not beyond them some given time. CCalendro, yes it is a sports gig but not ESPN. I have now spent a day on the Calrec and I'm being completely honest with the lead A1 in that I fundementally understand the board (config & concepts) and studio components but know that it will take several shadow sessions and off hours hands-on to be comfortable and many more to gain advanced knowledge of the studio which is fairly new and very well designed. Calrec does not publish their actual manual online, there is a bit of literature on their website and a few videos though. Luckily the A1 was kind enough to share it. For anyone interested I'll post more down the road.
