KMR 81 D

This is exactly the question/answer I was looking for, so you like the KMR-81D better than the Super CMIT 2U even though it has a slightly wider pickup pattern.  A couple of questions, how is it for interviews (overhead boom mic) when used directly with AES-42 powering on a Sound Devices 633 or 688 recorder?  Also, when using the 633/688 recorder, do you get one channel (mono) of sound and can you free up Input 2/track 2 for something else?  Lastly, how is the software/firmware updated -- can it be done by the user, or at least in the USA, and have there been any updates?  (Schoeps makes you send the mic back to the factory)

as far as I remember, the answer is 'yes'. Turn the AES 42 powering on the Nomad on, and plug the mic into the appropriate Digital AES IP (via a D conn). It just works. You may need to go into the IP setup for that digital IP channel and wind in a load of gain so that you can hear the mic.

Kindest, sb
