Ryan T
I'm considering moving there and improving on my Spanish. Has any one any experience living and working in sound? Typical rates and broadcast, production houses. I have a degree and plenty of experience sound mixing for live and studio musicians too. What I basically want to know is with perseverance am I going to be able to survive or should I quit dreaming. Thanks Ryan.
studiomprd
obviously, you will be the outsider moving in... and you will get local rates, commensurate with the local economy...so it would be difficult to compare them, as you will be a local hire... dominiquegreffard
I can say from my own experience that moving to a different country is that knowing local language is crucial and seasonal timing also helps alot. Having low cost of life to give yourself some time to establish your network is important. Get in touch with local mixers (there might be some here?) and their sound store. Make student films and smaller projects. It is coming back from the bottom but it s not impossible. Also try to get an idea of the market there. Do they have schools poppin' thousands of sound recordists a year or most recordists learn from master/apprentice relationship? It's a big project but i m sure you can do it. Get your social on amigo!! Good luck!
