Whit Norris
Thought I would check with the group to see if anyone uses a battery powered speaker that is between a Speak Easy and a Anchor in size. Looked around the web nothing really caught my attention. Thanks, Whit

Whit Norris
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Mike the Anchor PB35 was slightly larger than I wanted. Tom the dermerbox was great! I'm trying to order the Big Bang. They are very backed ordered but they are trying to get me one. We are just trying to provide director communication in some very loud car rigs that we have to be able to hide the speaker. Again thanks guys! Phil Palmer
Try the Sound Projections VM-1. I have the SMP-1 and it's great. I've been thinking of getting one of these little ones for just what you're dealing with. http://www.soundprojections.com/portable-sound-systems/voice-machine.html P

S Harber
This is at Costco in LA these days for about $140. I've had one for a couple of years and they work really well. The battery lasts about 8 hours and has a crappy VOG mic thrown in. http://www.amazon.com/ION-Rocker-Portable-Speaker-System/dp/B004YHTNV2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1380946737&sr=8-4&keywords=ion+tailgater+costco

geordi
Big Jambox is amazingly loud, self powered with a 12 hour battery, and can be fed with either Bluetooth or direct cable input. I actually used mine recently to carry the entire musical playback during the service at my sister's wedding.
TJW
I have a couple of Samson XP40iW wireless speakers. The version I have has a wireless VHF receiver and a hand held mic as well as cabled inputs. You could also buy a Samson pocket radio mic system if you want to send programme sound wirelessly to both speakers or you can get the standard version without the wireless option. They work well. If I need anything bigger production rent in either Anchor or a mains PA. These have a built in lead gel and I have some small DCDC converters in the van so they are always float charged and ready to use. A really good sound for something so inexpensive.
