Carlos Maeda
Using Wave Agent to enter all necessary metadata to my files recorded on a Tascam DR680. Sometimes, when I enter the track names under the Track Info field, it will only save the last entry and move it to track 1. This happens when I enter the data all at once or individually. I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing differently this time around that it won't save. Has anyone else ever encountered this problem? If so, how did you remedy it? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Here's my workflow for reference: I record the SD 552 mix as a separate stereo BWF (via AES out) and ISOs as mono BWFs (DR680 will only record a 6ch poly, no less). Import mix files to Wave Agent then enter metadata and rename mix files. Then import mono ISOs, create polys, clear mono files and import polys, enter metadata and rename. A lot of extra work on myself I know, but works for now until I trade it all for one of them new 633s.
Peter Mega
Are you pressing the save button on the bottom left? You didn't mention that? I'm assuming you are?
Carlos Maeda
I use the cmd-S shortcut, but yes I'm saving after I enter all the data. Wave Agent will give me a popup warning if I try to move to on w/o saving.
Marc Wielage
It saves the track info for me. What's the version number and operating system? My memory is that they're up to v1.17, which is what I've been using for several months. I haven't had a problem with it saving or changing track names under Mac OSX 10.6.8. Constantin
DR680 will only record a 6ch poly, no less. A bit OT, but you could record in the mono format, right? That would create fewer tracks and lighten your WaveAgent load.
Carlos Maeda
Marc: I'm currently running v1.17 on OS X 10.7.5. Constantin: That's exactly what I'm doing now. Keeps me from recording blank tracks and saves on storage space.
Mark Orusa
I think Wave Agent only allows you to modify the track names on a individual-file basis. If you select more than one file and try to edit the names it won't work. In this regard it is not very useful. Thusly, it's better to enter track names in the field, when possible. Mark O. I regularly rename multiple track names in multiple files and have done so for years (OSX versions 10.6 to 10.85 and several Wave Agent versions - current 1.17). As in the Track info / channel, interleave, NAME field, if that's what you mean? I've never had the OP's problem even once.
S Harber
When I look at the Wave Agent report it shows 4 tracks marked as Channel 1 yet interleaved as 1-4. That kind of jumped out at me as possibly posing an issue.
vale
I have incountered this issue some time ago and i guess i figure out what that was. It happened when I imported mono files, then wrote track names and after this I converted to poly files. Once imported back poly files, I wasn't able to change track names anymore and it showed the last entry as the first track name. So my solution was: import all of your mono files, convert them to poly (if you're planning to have them that format) then reimport in Wave Agent and you will be able to change every track name you want, for single or multiple track, for single or multiple take. Hope I was clear explaining and hope it helps. Vale.
Carlos Maeda
S. Harber: That does look interesting. I'll pull up some older files I still have saved and see what they come up as. Vale: I think that's it. I must've done something different this time around that wouldn't allow me to make those edits. Will try it tomorrow.
