jrd456
Does the Panasonic AG-AF100 cam change 23.978 to 29.97 when you jam it with 23.978 and if so if I set the cam to 29.97 and use 29.97 to jam it with, does it turn out the same? Marc Wielage
Not sure! Haven't used the AG-AF100. The manual is here: http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/includes/pdf/AG-AF100P_OI.pdf I can't cut and paste from the manual (typical restrictive PDF crap), but the instructions are on page 24. Nothing about crossjamming in there -- it seems to say that it can do 23.98 natively (in 1080 or 720). This camera seems to be able to pretty much handle every HD standard. Audio Daddyo
All the Panasonic cameras I've ever used only accepts or outputs 29.97 Time Code. No matter what the camera is set at. Andy
pvanstry
If you have a 633, 664 or 788, you can return TC out from the camera and go into the jam menu and see the incoming TC frame rate. I do this every shoot I do and set all my devices to that framerate. So far, it always syncs ( except for Final cut error but that has nothing to do with set TC sync ). jrd456
Actually, not trying to cross-jam.What I'm trying to do is use an old HHB DAT as a time code generator [doesn't have 23.98] with a Panasonic AG-af100 cam., while doing HD .If the cam. changes 23.98 to 29.97 automatically then it should be possible ? I've read the manual, and it isn't clear to me. J.D.

studiomprd
jrd456: " I've read the manual, and it isn't clear to me. " then try it and see what happens... " .If the cam. changes 23.98 to 29.97 " doubt it, but the rates are compatible, and align on the :00 frame of each second.

Much appreciated, Rick! I have used the AF100 before and that definitely expects to see 29.97 code. What I'm curious about is whether all these cameras can cross-jam. The last Panasonic Varicam project I did, I asked the editor and she told me they were going to edit it all at 23.98, so I gave them 23.98TC. I never hoid a woid, so I assume all went well. doubt it, but the rates are compatible, and align on the :00 frame of each second. But what if the code doesn't start on a :00 frame?
