pverrando
New life to a "shelf-queen" Nagra IV-S with inclusion of a quarter-track stereo playback head in place of the pilot head. Great fun listening to vintage stereo consumer tapes, they sound pretty damn good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mr0emFzysbE#t=

rstl99
Yes, very interesting mod Pete. Good luck with the sale (I assume that's yours on ebay), it should appeal to some audiophiles... I wonder: has the IV-S been given any attention from the folks at the Tape Project (if they are still around)? Personally, the idea of paying high dollars for short-run optimally-produced reel tape reissues of some classic recordings never had much appeal, but I suppose that to an audio enthusiast with a great stereo system it might provide a bit of an ultimate analog sound as close as possible to the original master, with the right tape player... huiyugan
Good job! Where can we buy the quarter head? And how to mod it? Thanks
