Tom Duffy
At the request of our Hollywood based production and post production customers, we have added a number of features to the TASCAM HS-8 to bring it up to par with the HS-P82 V1.20 for use in primary production / recording. The HS-8 was originally designed for use in playback / post-production / telecine bay. This is HS-8 V1.30 - The main additions are: Ethernet functionality now equal to the HS-4000 / HS-2000 / HS-2 Take renaming now possible. (also updates iXML metadata) Expanded support for USB keyboards. Slate tone generator. & minor fixes / improvements. http://tascam.com/product/hs-8/downloads/ As always, we're keen to hear what features our customers want adding. Tom Duffy
TASCAM HS-8 V1.40 released with features requested by Hollywood based production customers and others. Added a mode where rec start and stop will be exactly on frame edges. When recording is finished, the playhead can now park at the end of the previous take as well as the default which is the start of the previous take - this lets you note the take length on the time counter instantly. Toggle display on the take list to show the END T/C for each entry as well as START T/C and length, for easier memos. Sound Report creation. A CSV file can now be created with all info from the take list, including a list of marked points for each take. Empty space included for a "user notes" field. You can pull this into an Excel template that already has the production info in it. I can supply a sample if anyone is interested. ONLINE fader level now visible (when used with RC-HS20PD remote for hot-key playback). Meters now selectable pre or post the ONLINE fader. (previously Post only) Shortcut keys from an attached keyboard makes navigation during production much easier. Now possible to directly import mono files from another brand of recorder and have them play back as a single take. (great for theme park users, who previously had to convert to poly wav before importing, or other workarounds). http://tascam.com/content/downloads/products/90/e_hs-8_ins_v140_vc.pdf
