Using SD recorders without battery attached?

I seem to remember there being some issues with the 7 series recorders when using them on external power with no battery attached.  Is this still an issue?  I have a 702T that lives on my cart permanently and I don't see any reason to have a battery attached, except for total cart power failure....and at that point, my 702T will be the least of my worries.

Any thoughts?

Pwp,

A lot of mixers just keep the standard battery in the unit, even if you are using ac or cart power. mostly for the reasons Scott mentioned.

take care.
