olivierhoude26
Hi there, I'll soon shoot a documentary in Scotland, and I was wondering if I could be able to use my Block 21 Lectrosonics wireless lavs without being "illegal". Could anybody help me on that? Much appreciated!
OmahaAudio
Strictly speaking, no. Block 21 = 537.6-563.1 MHz Channel 38 (IIRC the only non-license wireless channel in the UK) = 606-614 MHz Perhaps one of our British friends can advise on the chances of getting caught. Not that you'd ever want to break the law.
Jon Gilbert
It is totally illegal, naughty, very very naughty. Unless you apply for a site specific licence. If you can be bothered doing that, look here: http://www.pmse.co.uk/licences.aspx Block 21 is almost totally clear in the UK, and unless you're at a major event, there's is only a microscopic chance you'll bump into anyone who gives a toss what frequency you're on. However, if you choose to do it without a licence, and get busted, don't call me!
RPSharman
The license is cheap. Seems silly not to have one. But it's also a silly license. I have chatted at length with the people over there, and the "site" is very "specific", meaning you aren't supposed to move around at all. Also keep in mind that you are supposed to be only at 50mW and Euro spec deviation. So when asked.... Robert
