giancarlo
Hi to the group, I'm wondering if you would be so kind as to shed some light on my problem, I'm in Borneo working on a 3D project with Sir David Attenborough and production requested I use a zaxcom radio and to have a daily backup of true files he's fully aware of this and this is fine, my problem is i tested the system before he arrived all files were showing on the trx 900 and playing back from the trx, Cut to first day of shoot i format the card in the trx check its on non loop record and away we go playback from try reassures me we are fine or so i thought... today and yesterday the same card is now showing 22 hrs used but when i mount it directly onto my macbook air i only see one folder saying delete me with 542 kb used so put card back in trx , playback fine, i must admit i usually use my zaxcom as a camera hop so i may be doing something stupid, another point i also have two versions of zaxconvert 6.11 3 and 6.17 MAC i feel I'm missing something really obvious here... thanks in advance for any help you can give.... Best Giancarlo
Jack Norflus
Are you looking at the files directly off the card or via zaxconvert?
Philip Perkins
It sounds like your audio is there on the card and you have a computer file compato issue. Do you have enough cards that you can put the full ones aside until the issue is sorted? philp

giancarlo
i do have enough cards , could the files just be hidden and if so why and how do is top this a colleague and good authority on zaxcom richard miller suggested it could be possibly because i have not named the transmitter in the extended menu I'm going to do that right now and see if another card mounts and works on zaxconvert if so I'm getting closer to stopping this happening again, just worried about how to get those files off the card now G

Boomboom
Do the normal procedure in zaxconvert and translate to wav files (NOT mp3s since you gotta have the lame encoder properly installed fir it to work).
John Blankenship
1) Try a different computer. 2) Try a different version of Zaxconvert 3) Try a different version of Zaxconvert on a different computer 4) Contact Zaxcom and see what further advice they can offer 5) Play back the files from the transmitter to a receiver and record them in real time (yes, it's time consuming, but at least, there's a way). rich
After speaking to Giancarlo, the problem is as we worked out. Because the transmitter name was left blank, it created a folder that won't be displayed in the finder on Mac OSX. Educated guess is that it gets hidden by the OS as it thinks it is part of the directory files that are hidden. So I have suggested that Giancarlo looks up how to search for hidden files on the SD card and then copy the appropriate files onto a folder on his computer and then point zaxconvert to that folder. And hopefully that should allow him to recover the files.
giancarlo
i cannot see the files in zaxconvert or on the card itself thru a card reader ...
rich
It may be that a windows machine will see all the directory info that OSX hides as a matter of course, but I don't know windows very well, and I'm pretty sure that at 0300 it's not the best time to be bothering other crew members to see if they have a windows machine to borrow.
