bendybones
There have been some threads discussing this but I haven't found any suitable solutions yet. I would like to mount the 742 at the butt (thick end) of my Panamic pole (to avoid RF and balance issues). I want to be able to access the battery door without unmounting the TX. I also want to be able to rest the pole on it's base. How are you mounting the TRX away from the mic?
RadoStefanov
I have it on the bottom of my Loon boom with right angle adapter. Will snap a picture on Monday...
soundslikejustin
No internal cable on the Panamic, Rado. Either run the cable down the outside of the pole and mount the 742 to the bottom of the pole with something like a handlebar mount, or wear it on your belt. glenn
The TRX742 can have its cone rotated to every 90 degree position so all boom pole mounting systems will work fine. Glenn
Nate C
I have used a small point and snap camera bag that had velcro straps that went around the handle of a 4 stage panamic maxi, holding a UMP and UM400. Mic and TX connected by a curly cable. The problem I had with this is I needed to move where the bag rested on the pole depending on how far it was extended and what was going to give me the the best cable tension. Another factor to consider is, it is smoother to rotate the pole on an externally cabled pole (over to under booming) with a straight cable as opposed to a curly cable. Constantin
Timo K (of Ambient) mentioned in another thread an accessory they sell to mount a tx on the bottom end of the pole
Matthias Richter
The shape of the 742 makes it hard to mount it in any holder. The old 700 was much better cause the XLR housing looks outside the body.

Matthias Richter
that´s the Sennheiser SKP which got a nice locking system. Unfortunately the 742 is just hold by it´s own XLR connector.
Constantin
I have just finished a longer project for which I used the 742 almost exclusively. I used a cinela mount for either the CMIT or CMK641. The 742 doesn't fit directly on the Cinela, so I use the Ambient Q-Tip, or whatever it's called. It's the metal XLR holder. I've added a rubber ring (taken from the older Rycote mounts) to the 742, as without it the connection was a bit loose. Now it's very tight. A short XLR to the cinela and this works very well. This is for the mic end of the boom, though

This is for the mic end of the boom, though cinela makes a large base osix swivel which moves the xlr away from the boom by 11mm. this is what I use with the 742: http://www.cinela.fr/catalog.php?pid=

I had heard about this, but have not yet been able to get one. At any rate, my current setup works quite well. Prahlad Strickland
I mounted mine at the mic end using the rycote xlr holder. worked well, but I find with a full rycote its' just way to heavy, to lobsided, Mounting it on the butt end, even though it adds the internal coily of my Ktek classic, overall it felt way lighter. Not happy with how it mounts pointing out, probabaly will grab the Ktek http://www.locationsound.com/k-tek-kta2-transmitter-adapter,-side-mount-2270 But also curious with the http://www.loonaudio.com/basemate_detail.php Ambient need to release a similar solution for their poles

Prahlad Strickland
One amazing thing I find with the Loon Boom is that it weighs 601g vs ambients 740g The loon is 12' the ambient is 11.5' the loon closed is only 30.88" long the ambient is 41" closed. Hard not to love the idea of the Loon boom with a wireless transmitter at the butt end,

I glued a rubber square and use a rubber band to hold the wireless steady. Will take a picture tomorrow.

If you would that would be great, i'm going ahead with Loon Boom, going to call him and see if he has anythign in stock, feel him out. to many people loving them from multiple sites not to at least try get one. Yeh i definately like the wing, which is not new, but definately don't want the 742 near the head, way to heavy for me. Cheers.
