johngooch
Doing a field repair. Clock it slate with the battery connector plate and a bad solider joint on the lead soldered to it . Almost impossible to solder.. I love these slates but this has to be their weakest point. Anybody here have any tips on this specific repair? I know my description is not detailed but if you own clockit slate you will understand what I am trying to accomplish.
soundtrane
you will need some steel wool/abrasive pad to buff the copper plate to take off the oxidation. you will also need at least a 60W soldering iron. 30/40W irons may not do the job well enough... -vin
johngooch
thanks Vin. job done. I got thru it with a 30 watt soldering iron. It was tough. Plastic parts holding in metal parts a little scary. Not my cleanest repair but it works. I have had good luck with ambient slates but this is their weakest point. Hoping this method of securing batteries is not the same on their newer slate. j
