afewmoreyears
Whats with the antenna.... Time code buddy... Mounted on the back of the slate?.. or built in...? It's bad enough the ACs hammer the slates we already have.... I am surprised they actually take the abuse they receive... the Time code buddy hanging antenna?... I give that 4 days on set.... 5 maybe... LOL...
Boomboom
It's supposed to be built-in... Mmm, not sure (too) about it being destroyed whithin a week on a shoot... :-/ Maybe a way to deport it and gaff'tape it on the slate with a 6" mini coax? Marc Wielage
Doh, what if they have "Scene V106AX2 Take 96"? I've seen some weird scene numbers in my time...
Wandering Ear
A simple "S" And "T" would suffice. I was hoping when Denecke got their new slate built it would support reading scene and take from zaxnet. Hopefully that's possible. I haven't seen what it takes to enter metadata into the tc buddy, but personally i am looking for less ways to screw up my metadata, not more. I've always loved the concept though. pscottm
my first question is where does the metadata originate? entering it on two separate devices would be a drag
Mark Orusa
Does this mean more people use the Timecode Buddy system than other timecode systems? Or were the Timecode Buddy people more proactive than other manufacturers? I want the Zaxnet version, please. Mark O.
Johnny Karlsson
Yeah. All good points about the antenna and file naming above. I cannot find any details. Guessing NAB will bring more. I believe there was an announcement last year the Denecke and TImecode Systems were about to collaborate.
Boomboom
TCBuddy is partnering with MovieSlate app, who are partnering with Denecke for the slate. I may be wrong but that's the way I understand it. So the metadata's probably entered via MovieSlate. If we look back in time, it seems zaxcom and Denecke didn't come to terms in the end. My guess is zaxcom will release something on its own (read: proprietary) (not unlike it was a surprise).
James Arnold
The 'scene and take' section of the slate is fully customisable to whatever text you choose to input. Scene and take number is derived from the userbits from TC Buddy (somehow). I've asked Zaxcom and the ERX is not compatible with this unfortunately. Charlie Parra
Hi Everyone, You guys do realize that this is a simplified computer rendering of the TS-TCB, right? The display is fully customizable so " Scene V106AX2 Take 96" is not a problem. Heck, you can even have the "the director name in lights". Thanks for all the input. All well taken and noted. More to be revealed at show time. Thanks again! Charlie

Martin Kittappa
The way some ACs treat my slate I really can't see that antennae lasting very long.
studiomprd
antennae like that are expendables; have productions buy replacements. you guys want to charge all the big bucks for rental, you have to expect to spend some of that on routine upkeep. it is how the world works! pscottm
no kidding! that antenna's days are numbered. my slate is headed in for repair next week after falling off a cam cart onto a concrete floor. renting one in the meantime.
