dominiquegreffard
I'm filming tomorrow with a BMCC. I plan on sending scratch track to it. I remember reading somewhere on the forum about settings from zaxcom erx to camera. I tried to search with no good results.. If i recall corectly there is still no meters on incoming audio so it s a bit of a gamble to setup. Anybody with experience with this would like to share his/her settings. I got this cabling a my local music store for 10$. At least that s cheaper than the usual 100$ tc+audio custom erx cables... Thanks Dominique
Jeff Wexler
You will still have to "customize" this cable for use with an ERX (or any other device, probably) because the inputs to a camera are unlikely to be ¼ phone plugs.
Wandering Ear
The blackmagic does have 1/4" inputs, and no audio meters. Use your ears, and record dual system.
Dan Joseph
ERX cables are padded on the TC end to reduce bleed - hence why they are custom cables and not off the shelf. Also the BMCC has a balanced audio input, so TRS is needed. 1/8" TRS to Dual 1/4" TRS Balanced with a -10 dB pad for TC - a custom cable anywhere. studiomprd
the 1/8" trs is 2 x unbalanced channels, so the TS (grounds the ring) probably works... note that a workflow test is in order...

Padding is not necessary in the cable since the erx has a variable tc out voltage. Now getting the right configuration of conectors ... That's custom. dominiquegreffard
I found the cable off the shelf at the music store and it has the right connectors so no custom work here. I do not plan to send tc to a audio channel to the camera so it will audio on both channels. I guess it will be a earguess on this one. Record double system on my nomad of course yes. Edit: after a phone call to local wiz gilles belanger all should be fine cablewise. He advised to go line level to camera to minimize potential noise issues. I m gonna blast the erx at +23 and take it from there. I'll let you know wich setting seems to sound the best. All this guesstimating.. RadoStefanov
It will work since it is left and right. Just make sure the time code is not very loud so it bleeds in the scratch track. You can always normalize it later .
Ze Frias
I just did a shoot with the BMCC4K last week, and I fed scratch track to the camera (only did one input though). Camera has no meters. Definitely record double system. The cable you posted will probably work fine. There's no easy way to mount the ERX, but using velcro. The cam op had the BMC in a cage so I was able to velcro it there.
johnpaul215
*if* there is an external monitor, eyepiece, or even a MacBook Pro hooked up, you will see meters. They are quirky to set up and terrifying to trust. I'm also not sure the headphone jack is very good to monitor what you are feeding. glenn
If the camera has TRS 1/4 it should work depending on the input stage of the camera. Glenn
