Vincent R.
Just stumbled upon this: http://instructables.com/id/Coiling-a-USB-power-cord/?ALLSTEPS I wonder if this works with mic cable. Don't see why not. Will try it out soon with a short leftover.
Rick Reineke
"I wonder if this works with mic cable" I highly doubt it. .. But don't let that stop you from trying. A waste of time IMHO though.
Vincent R.
Trying now with a 3.5 to 3.5 mm jack cable. Seems to work. I think mic cable is too flexible indeed.
Vincent R.
And.... Meh... Not so well
soundtrane
the problem is that the plastic material that has been used to make the jacket of your cable is simply not able to "memorize" the shape. The jacket material does not have the chemistry and/or thickness to retain a shape after the 'heat gun'. this is an educated guess - that coiled cable DOES have a different chemistry for the jacket. -vin
Vincent R.
I guess you are right. After playing a bit with this test piece it became all wonky
Mirror
Watch this video. At the end there is a secret step to give the cord a tight coil - after the initial coiling you then do a reverse coil to give it the desired effect. Watch, you see how it's done. Jack Norflus
I guess you are right. After playing a bit with this test piece it became all wonky I wonder if you reversed the coil like they did in the video - if that would work

berniebeaudry
Might be a useful way to fix a stretched out headphone cord?
Marc Wielage
I hate coiled headphone cables! Hate, hate, hate them. Replaced several of mine with straight cables.
