euphemia
Hello, I am doing a shoot with a Black Magic 4K camera. I am recording sound separately on SD633 and I am in doubt of which time code setting to use: 23,97? 24? The shoot will be edited on a FCP. thanks
Olle Sjostrom
You know we can't help you with that. The person running the camera (our editing) can answer that for you. If that person can't answer, check the manual of the camera to see if 24 is actually 23.97 or 24.
studiomprd
actually the BM has both 23.976 and 24.000 FPS, but we still cannot answer the original question... and I suggest a workflow test to confirm whatever you plan to use...
euphemia
Looks like 24fs is the more indicated one. Thanks for the help.
Olle Sjostrom
Again, we've been of no help! You the man!
Marc Wielage
I would suggest shooting at 23.98fps and using 23.98 timecode. If it's only intended for release overseas, then it's very possible that 25fps and 25-frame timecode is a better idea. Ask the editor and the distributor what they want, and get it in writing. scottcompton
I have the 4K. Very rarely would someone shoot straight 24. As advised here. Ask the question. It's surprising that they actually haven't told you. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Philip Perkins
Gentle folks, please listen to Mr. Compton re: Black Magic cams--he regularly flies a large squadron of them on his shoots, and is our leading early adopter. philp
