Recommended Posts

Thought some people here might be interested in this free meeting tomorrow (May 21, 2014). Perhaps some interesting perspective on spectrum, interference, and stuff?

Please fill us in if you go...

*Program Description:*

*WIRELESS CAMERAS, HOW DO THEY DO THAT?*

*From the beginning of television, producers wanted to move the camera out

of the studio and into the world at large. Early wireless (RF) cameras

required to be tethered to large vans that carried the electronics

necessary to convert the signals to radio waves to be sent back to the TV

station. *

*While the equipment shrunk down to fit on the back of the camera, the use

of analog transmissions had multiple problems; noise, interference and

multi path. Covering large out door events such as road marathons, car

races or news events was difficult and with inconsistent video performance.*

*With newer digital transmission technologies, enabled over a variety of

techniques such as DVB/COFDM, 802.11(WiFi) and 3G and 4G cellular, camera

signals can be delivered anywhere without analog impairments. The

transmission equipment not only fits on the back of the camera, but in some

cases is a ‘plug in’ dongle to the camera body. Wireless transmission

coupled with the Internet can enable a wider distribution of camera signals

than ever before.*

*Come to the meeting on May 21st and listen to three speakers describe

their company solutions: Carl Hicks, JVC Jon Landman, Teradek Kurt

Heitmann, CP Communications.*
