Christian Spaeth
I recently recorded some interviews in quiet rooms that were shot on a C300. The interviews took a few hours each. After some time, with the room heating up from the lights, I noticed the camera getting louder, fan noise or something similar to what we know from Red cameras that aren't set to quiet mode. I quickly went through the camera menu but couldn't find any such setting comparable to Red or Alexa quiet modes. The DP didn't know either. Is there such a setting? Jim Feeley
Maybe check to see that the air intake vents aren't blocked or obstructed by gak. There's one vent just below the headphone volume buttons and two others on the right side of the main body barrel. That's what caused increasing noise in the one time I recall coming across it with this camera.
ScottStoneback
I've used the C300 for 100's of hours, and the fan is never loud enough to cause concern. There is a small fan on the camera, and like JM notes, if there is a blocked vent it could possibly be the root of any fan noise. But, a normal operating C300 is very very quiet. patrickveigel
I agree, it's a very quiet camera. I had one become louder over time. We had it sent to service, they cleaned the fan and now it's as quiet as before.
