mrkva
Hello, has anyone here tried to put their own coiled cable into a rycote boompole without one? The construction seems almost the same. I only need the cable and cut the hole in the bottom. Also - any tips on sourcing coiled cable? Thanks, Jonas
Vincent R.
Rycote sells these kits
John Blankenship
You can purchase coiled cables from any of the "usual suspects" (professional audio dealers) that support our industry.

mrkva
Hi, and welcome, MrKVA: " has anyone here tried to put their own coiled cable into a rycote boompole without one? "... well, yes. And how did it go? Which coiled cable have you used?
studiomprd
mrkva: " And how did it go? Which coiled cable have you used? " generally fine, and several various sources... what you have to watch out for is the coils building up an inductance flux field. too many turns, and your resonant field will collapse, and this tends to happen more often as the pole is extended.. John Blankenship
I use a controlled array of anti resonant beads and the problem never arises. If the people being boomed sing close harmony in the key of E, however, the spontaneous sympathetic vibrations can cause all havoc to break loose. Also, an energetic enigmatic fiddle player may have the same effect, so you have to be careful to avoid "violins in the street."
drewski9
How do you handle the stray enigmatic RF spray caused by the anti resonant bead array. (unless you are using the new anti-rf titanium-halide coated beads)
