VASI
Oh God. He put the MKH 50 and NTG3 on Zoom Recorder. And after: "The Sennheiser MKH50 doesn't sound good to my ears."
Angelo Waldron
Boy that's some kit. But it's about the archer I am told..... no? I think the Rode boom poles are plastic. Hey, why is this not in my "from cl" thread??
Constantin
I think the Rode boom poles are plastic. Aluminium and pretty heavy
PhforAndAfter
The Rode boom pole is unusable, IMO. It's cumbersome and the locks feel terrible, it takes me twice as long to extend or collapse as a k-tek.
Philip Perkins
So how would you use all those G3s with a 2ch Zoom and no mixer? Otherwise, yes he can do a good job with this stuff if he knows what he's doing. Re advertising exactly what gear you have, that's never seemed like a good idea to me at any level of the biz. If they want to know what I use they can ask. philp
studiomprd
OMG: it is about the arrows.
Rick Reineke
"it is about the arrows" - Certainly is.. but would question the competency of someone using a POS recorder.
Constantin
"it is about the arrows" - Certainly is.. but would question the competency of someone using a POS recorder. Or the financial capability
johnpaul215
For what indie films want to pay sound, this is probably still more kit than they deserve. This person probably paid off that kit in a few jobs and is paying bills.
Jay Rose
It's a POS recorder... but when you consider all the analog generations a track used to go through, compared to the current ingest and digital mix workflows, that POS in the right hands can do a perfectly competent track. Besides, my measurements have shown that those POS pocket recorders are -still- better than doing single system in the current crop of popular video cameras... much better than single system in a DSLR. So technically, it's a step up from what a lot of this guy's customers are currently using. The caveat, of course, is having the POS "in the right hands". Can't comment on that; don't know the guy. Nick Ray Harris
Why does anyone here read craigslist?
studiomprd
constantin: " Or the financial capability " huh? JP: " This person probably paid off that kit in a few jobs and is paying bills. " yep! biz-101: find a need, and fill it but Nick Ray has the pertinent question: " Why does anyone here read craigslist? " some of the folks here still need those jobs, and take them... sounddguy
Why does anyone here read craigslist? Entertainment when I'm bored.
Constantin
constantin: " Or the financial capability " huh? What are you huh'ing about? Could be that he hasn't been able yet to afford something other than a Zoom, but intends to move up soon, as many here do, too
