JonG
Any news on whether this version will allow the red dragon to operate on 23.98? I haven't found any documentation on it (not here nor the Zaxcom web site, and nobody on the phone in the tech dept at zax knew either). Thanks in advance! Jack Norflus
I don't have personal experience but the feedback I heard is no. I also heard that red engineers are working on it.
glenn
The people at RED are from what we know still working on the problem. At this point the fix will come from RED as the ERX output is solid. Glenn
osa
Curious to know if transmitting 23.98, 29.97 at the erx and driving the dragon set at 23.98 is a valid work around? Burned clips with a slate to check. I still cant get an editor to confirm this for me unfortunately. But this has been the only way i have been able to get the green tc to light up. To the naked eye it appears to be i sync at full seconds. I called zaxcom to discuss this a while back and at the time it was believed to be the case but yet to be proven. I am going with it in the meantime because it appeared to work on several jobs thus far Ken
JonG
bummer, well I guess its back to jamming all the time
PTA
As another update, I tried to jam a Dragon with my Ambient slate at 23.98 and it wouldn't take. But it would take a Deneke slate.
RadoStefanov
Last time I work with dragon, the Nomad, ERX1TCD, Denecke SB3 and Denecke slate were not able to jam the camera. The only thing that worked was the denecke slate on boot.. This weekend I will try with Mozegear Tig q28.
JonG
I know that a jam from an SB-T or straight from the 788T will work. Hoping for more options.

You beat me to it. All makes sense to me. Will keep on truckin with the cross jam... Ken
Prahlad Strickland
been shooting with red dragon, only thing that worked is 29.97, it jamms even though they are 23.97 syncs up fine love the image the dragon gets, first red i've personally liked the image from. JonG
After making the update, I found that some settings were changed, while others remained. The only setting I saw changed so far was that the TC output level was reset to minimum, which had me stumped when my Denecke slate wouldn't jam or read TC. But that was a quick fix, and no time was lost on set. It did not jam the Dragon however, but I was able to jam it from my Denecke slate, so time was kept after all, it just required a little extra effort. I don't know if it matters, but I am using a Denecke TS-2sb with the 23.98 update. Rado said he couldn't jam a Dragon with his slate, which I am assuming is a more recent model than my own, but I think it is possible that since the 4-pin lemo on the camera is finicky, a proper re insertion and a jiggle may allow some of his devices to work, though I wouldn't put it past him to have already tried

I have a TS3 and it sometimes jams the dragon and not others. To recap from a previous post of mine. Red have emailed me to say they have located the problem within the camera and are working on a fix and will have new firmware in 3-4 weeks. It is not the lemo as we have a rig with BNC as well and the same thing. We can get external timecode into the Dragon reliably with a Tig and Lockits but not Denecke or Zax.
