Sean McCormick
Terrible news. He was a good dude. Having done that gig, it's totally an accepted possibility. I always thought it would be a car wreck that would get me, however.

studiomprd
this just in: http://deadline.com/2014/08/cops-spike-crew-member-dead-shot-robbery-825551/ " Dion was wearing a ballistic vest, but the bullet “came in under his left arm and slipped in between the vest, " 30 rounds fired... was " the number of shots fired by the three police officers who went into the restaurant was excessive... suggestions the hail of bullets suggests the police were showing off for the Cops camera. , " ? " Bryce been with us seven years, and he really is one of our best,” John Langley said during the news conference. Dion, who had recently been promoted to sound supervisor, “was a very talented guy and he did something he loved and was passionate about. We’ve been very fortunate over the years that we’ve never had an incident like this. Unfortunately this happened and we’re dealing with it and it’s a very sad day for us.” "

Angelo Waldron
Terrible news. Maybe they should limit the number of bullets in a cops gun.
enginufuk
Regardless the numbers, I wanted to share the painful and unfortunate death Dion went through. Perhaps brining up such details like amount of bullets didn't make sense in the first place. My bad! I think, we don't need to discuss that detail any further. My condolences to his family... John Steigerwald
Terrible news. Maybe they should limit the number of bullets in a cops gun. Or add more training time on the range
soundtrane
sorry guys, but i'm confused - what the does all this mean??? does it mean the guy had signed a contract saying he may die in the line of duty, and so 'it's sad that this happened' ?? studiomprd
He certainly knew, and probably loved -after 7 years- the "action" and associated risks involved, he was wearing a bullet proof vest, but to be taken down by friendly fire is a major tragedy... I'm sure there will be more on this...
carbonhobbit
Dion was in one of the doorways into the store and the robber ran for the same door as the police fired on the robber. This put Dion in the line of fire with nowhere to go. He could have been turning to leave when the bullet caught him under the armpit where there was no armor. Sad day in Omaha. I've been an ER room when a person was brought in with the same type of wound. The ER team would have put up a great fight to save Dion, but bullets coming in there have a habit of going through all the organs you need to live. When it was over, it effected everybody involved. I have never forgotten that day even though its been more than 10 years ago. Scott....
Mungo
This terrible accident has gained international acceptance. I found this news yesterday on our local newspaper website in Hamburg / Germany http://www.mopo.de/promi---show/zwei-tote-im-schnellimbiss-bei-dreh-fuer-reality-serie--cops---polizist-erschiesst-toningenieur,5066870,28246140.html Risking life for TV has been discussed in Germany for some time since a young man was paralyzed from the neck down two years ago, doing a stunt in a TV show, watched live by 8 million viewers. We do so many dangerous things day by day, thinking that we will be home with our families afterwards ...
PhforAndAfter
One more example of overzealous police with not enough training. The robber had an airsoft gun - he was asking to be shot for sure, but it's not like this was a firefight.
Mirror
It's been my observation that just because they give someone a badge doesn't make him the smartest guy in the room, contrary to the badge wearers ego.
soundtrane
We do so many dangerous things day by day, thinking that we will be home with our families afterwards ...>>> oh, probably not just this, but maybe a lot of money involved compared to some other 'usual' sound gig...? but to be taken down by friendly fire is a major tragedy...>>> damn, this was not a war zone! more i think of it, more ridiculous it all seems to me.
