Hi guys

I've been using a schoeps cmc4 with the mk41 head for years, and loving it. It's time for a second one and I'm loving the size of the ccm 41s. Im wondering weather the ccm41s (speech) is comparable to the current cmc61 with the me 41 head?? It's mainly for indoor interview setup but I love the size for I car stuff or tight spaces.

Thanks in advance guys

Wysey

Sound-wise I find them to be very similar. However, the ccm's aren't as small as they might seem, as you have to remember the plug protruding out from the mic quite a bit. And there is no right-angle version afaik. So in cars especially, I've found it quite difficult to hide a CCM mic.

With another CMK641 you'll have much greater flexibility with the inter-changeable capsules and with the active cable you can remote the capsule from the preamp making that end even smaller than a CCM with cable. Plus you can even add a GVC between capsule and cable, providing great flexibility, especially when hiding this in tight spaces.

The CMC6 / cable / MK41 combo has more failure sources than a CCM, though. Especially as the link between capsule and body seems to be the main source of humidity issues.

Yes, I heard that too, here actually. A certain consensus seemed to imply that this was related to the cleanliness of the connection. Some people also complain about humidity issues with the CMIT, which doesn't have any removable parts. I have used the CMK641 combo with and without active cable and GVC for a few years now, unscrewing and re-screwing it all the time without any issues whatsoever.
