Zaxcom LA2 vs LT2 (and 50mW vs 125mW)

I'm looking to upgrade to a pair of Zax radios and a receiver for bag work.

I am mainly curious about the difference in range and power efficiency between the LA2/LT2.

I'm wondering:

1) Is the LT2 available at 125 mW? perhaps via special order / mod?

2) How is range with 50mW using whip antennae on the QRX235? (I'm working from a bag)

3) Does the LT2 run twice as long as LA2 assuming same power setting etc?

4) Or like 2/3 of a day instead of half a day?

5) Is there any advantage to the QRX200 over the QRX235?

(I remember Rado looking to swap his 235 for a 200 but don't remember why)

No Zax dealer in my country so any advice/experience is much appreciated.

5.) QRX 200 covers 200MHz (6 blocks). No QIFB (Zaxnet) option.

QRX 235 covers 35MHz (1 block). QIFB can be added.

You have to ask yourself if you want/need wideband/zaxnet, or if you have any other Zaxcom gear you want to integrate and how you want to do that.

To be honest I havnt really noticed much difference in my LA at 50mW and 100mW. You have to consider what batteries you'll be using ie do you want to buy new lithiums every shoot or use rechargeable? I went LA because I do mostly non scripted, and want to use rechargeable.

Yea, not sure I'd need wideband on the QRX as I will only be running 2 transmitters.

Any other reason I'd need wideband?

I will be integrating this with Nomad 12. I have 2 borrowed ERXs but will be getting some ERXs soon.

I want to have one ERX on cam receiving scratch audio and TC and two more ERXs for director and script

Nomad can potentially do this, but I am currently looking into solutions to improve the performance of Nomad's aerial.

Generally I will use disposable Lithium AAs.

1) there is no option for 125mw for the LT.

2) I find I use 50mw on my LA for most situations and I find I get acceptable range.

3) not exactaly twce the run time but close - I forget the specs off thr top of my head but I beleive it's 7 hours for the LA vs 4 or 5 hours for the LT.

4) yes

5) no difference in performance - it's just the 200 is wide band and the 235 is block specific. Being that the 235 isn't wide band there is room for the optional QIFB. Which if you are running a nomad you don't need the qifb.

Power consumption has not changed on the LA or LT transmitter. Any battery is fine for the LA. The LT must use Lithium or a good Nimh battery like a 2600ma cell or better. Internal recording does not effect run time.

The best battery life will be with the TRXLA2.X at 50mW and lithium batteries. 7+ hours is not uncommon. At 125mW the battery life would be about 5.5 Hours.
