old school
October is here again and that means yearly IA rate increase. Not sure for the film and TV gang, but commercials are now $71.80 hour which is $789.80 for 10 hours. Don't spend it all in one place.;~_ CrewC

Jeff Wexler
Hey, Crew, now I think I know one of the reasons why you've been smiling all these years doing commercials. That's some seriously good money.

old school
Tuna Sushi double R. @JW, you know me, I like to smile.;~) but as you also know, Roger showed me the time/money ratio of commercials a long time ago. I never did commercials for the dough though, just as a way to stay home and be a family man. I love and cherish my film days where I fulfilled my original dream of being a film maker in the crafts, working with the best. Thanks to you I got there. After that I loved and had a blast being a dad, and doing commercials. I was lucky, it paid well and most of the people in the game are good. BTW, out of curiosity, what is Film & TV scale? It's not that far off as I recall. CrewC I love October......
Rich Reilly
Hmm..interesting..bet many reading here read ":$71.80 hour which is $789.80 for 10 hours. Don't spend it all in one place." with a raised eyebrow. I mean..categorically: "commercials"? Please explain.
old school
$71.80 an hour is the union scale under the L A IATSE commercial contract. 10 hour minimum. No question that this fact doesn't answer. The IA has many contracts that have different tiers of pay for different types of work. At this point in time I only really know commercials. dolo72
The UK APA (Advertising producers association) rate for sound hit £500 for a 10hr day in June this year. Very nice rate which translates to $804 a day in US but you get much more for your money stateside. I think this is why my freinds in Drama are all telling me to stick to commercials, plus you get to see your loved ones more often.
