633 return weak?

Hi all,

I know I'm doing something wrong.

Trying to get tone set to "0" on return on SD633:

Monitoring return on the 633 from a c300.

Line into c300.  good tone on camera.

Can't get tone level to hit "0" on return, even with cam HP vol at full...

I can pad the return volume and bring the meter down, but when I open the return up to a level of 0.00,

with c300 headphones on full volume, I can only get return meter up to -10.

I'm thinking I'm missing something simple here.

Help?

No youre not. The headphone amp isn't nominal to your output from that camera w headphones at full crank. I find I have to turn up my headphone volume on the 633 in order to match the volume from the stereo buss on the 633.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's a better sounding headphone preamp than most cameras. If you are getting sound to it and it sounds relatively as good as your output buss then all is good. Remember the C300 is basically a moving stills camera. The fact that it has decent sound functionality is a bonus.

Thanks Tonetripper.

I won't sweat it then.

I do prefer to have everything match when I send tone though (including my return tone).

I could easily get the c300 to match tone on my 788t when I sent cam returns into my inputs.

I guess the mini return on the 633 is just not as robust?
