KenMartini
Maybe it is a concept mockup.
Rich Reilly
It depends. Contact the manufacturer.
soundslikejustin
Maybe not actually from Sound Devices.... Definitely 'shopped. maybe it is a concept mockup.

soundslikejustin
If that thing existed, I would buy it. So would a lot of people, but we have the 633 instead
afewmoreyears
Someone at SD emailed me this photo. It looks like SD is competeing with the new Tascam DR-70 In other news, BMW 7 series is competing with the new Ford Fiesta....
KenMartini
So would a lot of people, but we have the 633 instead The 633 is twice the size and weight as a 302. I could use a good rugged travel mixer./recorder. I will purchase the Tascam DR-70 till something better comes along in that size.
Glen Deakin
Omg if this is true its so time to sell the 633. The 633 is so last year technology. Must get this. [emoji3]
elior
I saw that SHURE sell the SDMixPre under their name "FP24". Maybe SHURE take the 302 and sold it with the recorder under their name as "FP332".

studiomprd
Ken: " It looks like SD is competeing with the new Tascam DR-70 " it looks to me like you fell for more Internet facts, and fell big (too many martini's..?). and when confronted with such evidence, did you contact SD to check ?? or did you fan the flames..? " I will purchase the Tascam DR-70 till something better comes along in that size. " OMG, the beginning of the end for SD.... Johnny Karlsson
Um, you forgot to add a transport button.
Philip Perkins
Um, you forgot to add a transport button. That and SD goes for the T shifter thing for transpo now. This idea resulted in the 633. The 633 is bigger because it does more, has more connectors and thus more i/o, and is tall enough to accommodate L mount batteries. A 302 runs pretty well on 3 AAs, which a multitrack recorder like 633 would incinerate in an unacceptably short run-time. p
KenMartini
SD wrote back to me: "This is a cool idea, but very doubtful that we will be seeing this in the future anytime soon. Thanks for your input".

I shopped that photo to have some fun with you guys. I also sent it to SD. My next hybrid will include a Coke bottle opener on the side of my 664. Jim Feeley
Maybe combine a MixPre-D, a couple DR-10 recorders, a TentacleSync or Mozegear box, and some gaffers tape. Glad to help!
studiomprd
Martini: " I shopped that photo to have some fun with you guys. The fact is, I will buy the Tascam DR-70 because there is no other manufacturer producing something like this. I first sent SD the photo and asked them if they had anything like this in the works. soundtrane
too much time on your hands Ken? Wait - if you have nothing better to do - rather than photoshop (which you dont do so well anyways...) heh... (and good luck with that Tascam unit - please do post your review here after you use it for at least six months)...
johnpaul215
It basically exists, it's called the 633. Remember that a lot of people use the aux inputs in the 302 for a clunky 5 channel mixer. SD gave everyone an extra input on the 633. I'm also sure the 633 is as small as they could make it for a few reasons, current technology limitations and usability being two of them. Vincent R.
I rather have bigger faders like on the 633 than the tiny ones of the 302. Hence the size
studiomprd
martini: " Tell me who believed it in this group? " well, you said you did, but that was just part of the "fun"..? try doing some Internet searches: Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. it is all over the world already!
