Jeff Wexler
This is very sad news. I didn't even know he was ill. One report said he died from complications associated with Alzheimer's disease.
cmassey
Sad indeed Jeff...very sad! I had the good fortune to meet he and his brother years ago, when there was talk of taking the two of them to Cuba and have them get with the guys who really keep old cars running. The project didn't get far, but what a joy to sit in on a broadcast and later have lunch with the two of them.
Jack Norflus
For sure a sad day. They voiced a small part in the animated Cars movie which my son watches all the time - and any time we are driving and car talk is on the radio my son says that's the Rust-Ez guys and my son waits for the end or the show so he can say "don't drive like my brother"
Jim Feeley
Two small things that point at a small part of what is great about Car Talk and the brothers: Almost inappropriate joke from the announcement on the Car Talk website: "Tom Magliozzi who, along with his brother Ray, hosted NPR’s hit comedy show Car Talk for the last 37 years, died Monday morning from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. “Turns out he wasn’t kidding,” said Ray. “He really couldn’t remember last week’s puzzler.” http://www.cartalk.com/blogs/staff-blog/tom-magliozzi-1937-2014 Two-minute compilation of Tom and Ray laughing:
johnpaul215
They spoke at my brother's graduation from MIT, just as funny and insightful in that setting.
PTA
Just hearing these two laugh puts a smile on my face, it doesn't even matter what they were talking about.
al mcguire
They made me laugh, one of my favorites was " What's the Worst Car of the Millennium " contest. They awarded it to the Yugo for having the foresight to have a heated rear window so your hands didn't get cold while you were pushing it.
