Jeff Wexler
There is a lot going on here with this unit --- street price of $400. it is pretty amazing "Go beyond the microphone taped to the wall with JamHub’s Tracker MT16 multitrack recorder. This portable recorder lets you connect directly to almost any mixer or JamHub studio for 16 channel multitrack recordings that feature each musician on their own track, without affecting the house sound at all. Record incredible audio, up to 24/96, in WAV or MP3, so all your files drop seamlessly into your favorite DAW for post-production. And coming soon, you’ll be able to use the Tracker MT16’s built in WiFi to start and stop your recordings from any smartphone or tablet with the free Tracker MT16 Control app." LINK to Tracker website
stevegrider
That looks like it would be a very cost efficient multitrack backup recorder for a sound cart.
Philip Perkins
WAY too late for the music world--FOH consoles have or are going digital and don't have direct or really even many insert outs available anymore. The new crop of even $4000-ish digital consoles can output various flavors of digital audio streams and some of them can record MT directly to media w/o an interface or computer. I've discovered the hard way that my old model of hooking up to analog console direct outs (etc) is dead. Too bad this thing wasn't around 10 yrs ago…. philp

Long gone are the days of the HD24's.

I was thinking the same thing when looking at the pictures on the site, the big analog snake hooked up to some fairly ancient Mackie-like board. The whole new crop of relatively low cost digital boards have changed all that, even for the so-called garage band crowd. It still was a little amazing, to me, to see a little box like that with such a high track count and recording capability.
Philip Perkins
Yeah, it IS cool, but where was it when I could have worked it?! I guess it's possible that some musicians will have a old-fashioned Mackie board with direct or insert outs, but the guys I know are more likely to be working all digital in LIVE or etc, something they can overdub in…. philp
studiomprd
I'm guessing that, once again, we are not the target market.
Nick Campbell
I can see this being useful for older consoles used for live sound if you want a low-cost way to make live recordings without lugging around a PT rig or upgrading to a digital board.
